Joking whilst mocking the Religion

The Imaam, Mujaddid, Muhammad ibn 'Abdul-Wahhab (rahimahullaah) said in his book Nawaaqid al-Islaam (Nullifiers of Islam):

quote:
Sixth (nullifier of Islam):

Whoever mocks anything from the religion of the Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) - or the Reward of Allaah or His Punishment - has disbelieved, and the proof is the statement of the Most High:

Say: Was it Allaah and His Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelation etc.) and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) that you were mocking?

Make no excuse, you have disbelieved after you had believed
(Soorat at-Tawbah, ayat 65-66)

Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan (hafidhahullaah) said about this is point:

quote:
"So, this is a proof that whoever reviles Allaah or His Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) or His Book or anything from the Qur`an or anything from the Sunnah of the Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) that he apostates from Islaam even if he was joking.

And where are those who say: Indeed, he does not apostate except if he intended it from his heart, for if he did revile Allaah and the Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) or the Qur`an, we do not rule upon him (apostasy) [except] if he believed it. We do not rule upon them (apostasy) with mere speech or pronunciation or action.?

Where are they getting this speech and restrictions from? Allaah ruled upon them apostasy, [even though] they were saying:

We were only talking idly and joking (at-Tawbah, ayah 65)

And they were believers in Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) - Muwahhidoon (people who single out Allaah) - but however, when they said that statement, Allaah Jalla wa 'Aala said:

You have disbelieved after you had believed (at-Tawbah, ayah 66) and did not say "If you believed this."

We ask Allaah for Al-'Aafiyah. It is compulsory that (we let) matters fall into their places and that we do not interfere in them with increasing and decreasing or restrictions from our own-selves. Allaah did not ask about their belief, He didn't mention that they believe (in it), rather He judged upon them with apostasy after faith.

You have Disbelieved after you had Believed (at-Tawbah, ayah 66)

He (Allaah) decided this upon speech, and He classed this as Mockery and He did not restrict it with these restrictions (mentioned above). If man speaks a word of disbelief and he is not compelled (to say it), then it is ruled upon him apostasy. But if he was compelled, then he has not apostated.

Translated by Abu Abdur-Rahman Yunus

Subhanak Allaahuma wa bihamdika ash-hadu anlaa illaaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk

If I said anything correct, then it is from Allaah (subhanahu wa taa'ala), and if I erred, then that is from me and shaytan.
