Asalaamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatu

I do apoligise if this is a daft question but concerning studying biology as a subject
this subject involves aspects about charles darwin n his shaytan theory, so is it permissible for us to learn/listen to that particular module?
also there has been discussions about evolutionists and creationists where people had to divide/assosiate themselves with one of the groups for the discussion to take place. labling yourself as a creationist is it permissible as a biological term? as there has been mentioned that creationists are christian related views so the sisters of the class have dissosiated themselves from the creationist group, Alhamdulillah and presented the Deen, bringing forward a talk about Allah, our Creator.

JazakAllah Khayran

"So glorify the Praises of your Lord, and ask His forgiveness.
Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and Who forgives" (110:3)

Asalaamu 'alaikum,

In today's context, Creationism is a Christian movement, driven mainly by Evangelicals across America, which has acquired notoriety in the West for not only rejecting Evolution's Descent with Modification, which states that organisms descend from common ancestors through the processes of Evolution, e.g. natural selection, mutation, genetic drift, etc., but also believes in the idea of a Young Earth, which states, among other things, that the Earth is approximately 6,000-10,000 years old and that humans and dinosaurs co-existed. They have been criticised by some Christians for taking a literal interpretation of the Bible, more specifically its first book: Book of Genesis.
Hence, Creationism carries a negative connotation for almost all scientists, and is also rejected by many of their fellow Christians (known as progressive Creationists or neo-Creationists a.k.a. Intelligent Design (ID) proponents).

According to Wikipedia:
quote:

Both creation science and intelligent design have been characterized as pseudoscience by the mainstream scientific community.
So, if you mean by "biological term" a scientific term, then since Creationism has been rejected by the scientific community, it is also rejected as a scientific term.
In light of the above, I think it's wise that the sisters have disassociated themselves from said Creationist group.

Allaahu 'alam.

What brother Hamza has said is very accurate.  Creationism is not science, rather it is an aspect of the 'aqeedah of some British and North American Protestants (it is specifically an Anglo cultural phenomenon).

Unfortunately, some of the Muslims have adopted this wholesale, such as Harun Yahya who takes much of his material from the unscientific Christian "Discovery Institute."  Some Muslims have also fallen into the equally unscientific trap of "intelligent design."

If you want advice on what to do, I would advise you to contact some of the 'ulamaa as they may have beneficial knowledge regarding how to behave in this situation.
