Topic: Who is 'Abdullaah Al-Ghaamidee, the student of Shaykh Rabee'?

I went into a room on paltalk a couple nights ago (I think it was called "Ahl Hadeeth" or something similar) and the title of the room once I entered was "live dars with Shaykh Abdullaah Al-Ghaamidee, a student of Shaykh Rabee'" or something very similar. There was no live lesson, actually it was a tape of Shaykh Rabee's being played. This was the first time I heard of this brother, so when a PM came to me:
"as salamu alaykum ahkee Moosa can you tell us who is Abdullah alGhaamidee he's on paltalk and Is he student of shaykh Rabee'?"
it seemed that others are going into this room as well, so I thought it would be good to ask the shaykh about him.
So today, I asked the shaykh, hafithahullaah, is 'Abdullaah Al-Ghaamidee one of your students? The shaykh did not recognize the name initially and asked me where he was from. I said that I did not know, and all I know is that his name is Abdullaah Al-Ghaamidee and that it is being said that he is one of your students. The shaykh did not know him.
So I request that anyone with any information about him to please post it, so we can know who he is. For those of you who go to sahab, keep an eye on this thread:

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته
Recent state of the salafiyoon on paltalk!
jazaa kallaahu khayra akh moosa.
I had also asked our brother 'Amr Mohiuddin (a few days ago) to ask Shaykh Rabee' about Abdullaah al-Ghaamadee.
just to add to the information on this individual Abdullaah al-ghaamadee.
Recently this brother has been doing live lessons on paltalk in the Salafi rooms, maybe not on this occasion that you're talking about moosa, but on numerous different occasions, there has been link ups with him.
I asked the admin (at least three different brothers) on numerous occasions about this individual. Every single one called him "Shaykh Ghaamadee".
When I questioned the brothers about this they narrated to me that which he himself (ie Abdullaah al- Ghaamadee) had said about himself, which is as follows:
That he is a student of Shaykh Rabee' and Shaykh 'Ubayd al-Jaabaree.
He is from Jeddah. And he is from sa'uud originally.
His kunyah is abu assam.
There was a big turn out in these rooms on all occasions when these link ups were done, as usually these rooms play tapes of the 'ulema, Students of knowledge and of the du'aat as-Salafiyeen.
When I questioned the admin brothers about this individual, they was abit slow in replying to say the least, and their attitude was like they didn't seem to think it was "that serious", as after all they had asked him (Abdullaah al-Ghaamadee) and he had said that he was a student of Shaykh Rabee',
So what was the problem?!
Then I say as Muhammad ibn Seereen rahimahullaah said :
"This is the knowledge of the Religion, so look from whom you take your religion".
as reported in Saheeh Muslim, in his introduction and by Abu Nu'aym in al-Hilyah (2/278).
My advice to the administrators of these rooms is that they stick to the 'Ulemaa, Students of knowledge and to the du'aat, when administerating these rooms!
And that, when we do not know a person, we ask before we give them a reccomendation/platform.
The Messenger, peace be upon him said:
"There will not cease to be a group of my ummah, uppermost upon the truth. They will not be harmed by those who forsake them, until Allaah's affair comes to pass and they are uppermost."

If we want to be from this group, then, let us learn and act as this group should!

الأخ عبدالله صوان الغامدي هو أحد طلبة العلم السلفيين بمدينة جدة و هو معروف عند الكثير من الأخوة في مدينة جدة بسلفيته و عمله في الدعوة خاصة في شرق مدينة جدة . وهو مدرس و حاصل على ماجستير في الدراسات الاسلامية , ومن مشايخه الذين درس عليهم الشيخ عبدالعزيز بن باز- رحمه الله - و الشيخ صالح الفوزان- حفظه الله - و الشيخ ربيع المدخلي- حفظه الله - وغيرهم.
ولقد رأيت سؤالك عنه في موقع salafi talk فاستغربت لذلك حيث ان الأولى أن تسأل أحد اخوانك بمدينة جدة عنه - خاصة بعد معرفتك أنه مقيم بمدينة جدة - !! ( وأهل مكة أدرى بشعابها )
أما قولك في ذلك الموقع أنك سألت الشيخ ربيع- حفظه الله - فأجابك أنه لا يعرفه فهذا شئ طبيعي , لأن الأخ عبدالله معروف عند الشيخ ومشهور عند الكثير من الأخوة بجدة بإسم عبدالله صوان و ليس عبدالله الغامدي ولو رأيت جدول الدروس السلفية لوجدت اسمه هناك (عبدالله صوان) و يشرح البيقونية بإذاعة الدروس السلفية www.salafiduroos.net/new . و خاصة ان الشيخ قد سألك (كما ذكرت في الموقع) من أين هو ؟ فقلت له لا أعلم . فالشيخ - حفظه الله - من الطبيعي أنه لا يعلم هذا الأخ حيث أن الاسم عبدالله الغامدي مشهور و منتشر كثيرا كما هو معروف عند إخوانك العرب.
أما استفسارك هل هو من طلاب الشيخ ربيع؟ فنعم هو من طلابه وهو من الملازمين لحضور دروس الشيخ و لعلي إذا لقيتك في درس الشيخ يوم الجمعة القادم أن أعرفك عليه ان شاء الله.
و أخيراً أرجوا ترجمة هذا الرد بموقع salafi talk لكي لا يكون هذا الأخ مجهولاً لديهم هناك بارك الله فيكم .

the following is my translation of what I just read in the above post in Arabic.

The brother Abdullah Sawaan Al-Ghaamidee is one of the Salafi students of knowledge in the city of Jeddah and he is well know with many of the brothers in the city of Jeddah for his Salafiyyah and his knowledge in Da'wah, particularly in the east of the city of Jeddah. He is a teacher and he attained his masters degree in Islamic Studies. From his Shaikhs whom he studied with are Shaikh 'Abdul-'Azeez bin Baaz (rahimahullaah), Shaikh Saalih Al-Fawzaan (hafidhahullaah) and Shaikh Rabee' Al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah) and others besides them.
So I found this strange since it would have been better for you to ask one of your brothers in the city of Jeddah about him, particularly after you became aware that he lives in the city of Jeddah. And indeed I saw your question about him on the website Salafitalk, and "the people of Makkah are more knowledgeable of its mountain-passes."
In reference to your statement on that website that you asked Shaikh Rabee' (hafidhahullaah) and he responded to you by saying that he does not know him, then this is something that is natural. Because the brother 'Abdullah is well known with the Shaikh and he is popular with many of the brothers in Jeddah by the name 'Abdullah Sawaan and not Abdullah Al-Ghaamidee. And if you have seen the schedule of Salafi lessons you would have seen his name there as 'Abdullah Sawaan, and he explains Al-Bayqooniyyah on the Salafi lessons broadcast www.salafiduroos.net/new. And particularly because the Shaikh asked you (as you mentioned on the site), "Where is he from?" And you said to him, "I don't know." So the Shaikh (hafidhahullaah) - it is something natural that he would not know this brother since the name 'Abdullah Al-Ghaamidee is famous and very widespread, as is well-known with your Arab brothers.
In reference to your inquiry as to whether he is from the students of Shaikh Rabee', then yes, he is from his students, and he is from those who adhere to attending the lessons of the Shaikh. And perhaps if I meet you at the lesson of the Shaikh next Friday (Jumu'ah), I will introduce you to him, inshaa' Allaah, so that the brother will not be unknown to them there, may Allaah bless you all. And finally I hope that this response will be translated on the site Salafitalk.
And may Allaah reward you with good

To the respected brothers: Abee Ziyaad, Hasan, and Aqeel - Jazaakum Allaahu khayran!
This was a reply from Aboo Ziyaad Al-Atharee on sahab, may Allaah reward him well.
As for Aboo Ziyaad's statement: "So I found this strange since it would have been better for you to ask one of your brothers in the city of Jeddah about him, particularly after you became aware that he lives in the city of Jeddah."
I just got finished explaining on sahab that I did not know he was from Jeddah when I went to the shaykh's house. I found this out after I returned that night (Thursday) and read the post by Abu Salih that was posted later that night.
And I also clarified that I understand that when Shaykh Rabee' said he did not know him (based the info I provided), that it is natural, and I agree with this and understand it, and this is why I did not accuse the brother of lying or anything, I simply continued asking about him until Allaah favored us with a beneficial response.
