Walaykumus salaam,

He is not a scholar at all, nor a sheikh.

I see a disturbing trend with the Muslims in general, and this is to call anybody who speaks a scholar.  Brothers and sisters, scholar is an academic term.  It refers to someone with a professorship or some sort of advisory role in an educational institution (and a legitimate one, at that).  Even having the word "Dr" before your name does not make you a scholar in and of itself.  Rather, what makes you a scholar are original and relevant contributions to your field.

When we speak about Islaam, then people such as Bin Baaz, al-Albaaniyy, 'Uthaymeen - these are scholars.  They were men holding high educational posts and were recognized for their research.

All of these speakers - and this is not confined to the West, as people in the Muslim countries are afflicted with this as well - are just that: public speakers.  Having eloquent and passionate speech does not mean you know what you're talking about.

As for Feiz Muhammad (I assume that's what the OP refers to) then he graduated with his bachelor's degree from this country, though he is not known amongst the teachers here.  He is currently studying for his master's degree at the Islamic University in Malaysia, which is known as the international headquarters for the Qur'an Alone/Hadith Rejection cult (though Feiz is not with them).  Currently, he is speaking at events and working alongside the more prominent takfeerees, ikhwaanees, and hizbees within the Southeast Asia and Australian regions.

He is NOT a scholar.  He is NOT a sheikh.  He is NOT reliable.  There are many scholars in this world, many shuyookh in this world, and many reliable speakers who know English in this world.  There is no reason to pay attention to Feiz Muhammad when you have other options available.
