assalaamualaikum,

There was a post sometime ago regarding travel that was answered by brother Aqeel Walker :

I live in southern california and there is a lot of confusion amongst us here regarding the definition of travel that permits the shortening and joining of prayers. I was wondering if brother Aqeel Walker, brother Dawud Adib, brother Moosa or any of the other brothers who are familiar with the U.S can clarify how we would define travel in the U.S. This would help me and the others here determine when we can shorten and join the prayers, inshallah.
