Assalamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah

This question mainly for muslim mothers or muslim doctors
I heard from my wife that some sisters said when they took their child to doctor and when doctor showed some pictures like dog..cat..and their child could not recognise it. My question is if child does not see pictures of animals or human beings does it affect in their developement??? Is there any ruling for children to allow them to see pictures because children do not use pictures as adults use their purpose is different
