Im from a brelvi background and we have a tradiditon where we sit around food and make dua over it. I have recently found out that this is an innovation and since then I have stayed away from it but I would like to know more about it? Does anybody know how this started? why they do it? can somebody give me some evidence to prove that this should not be done and can somebody tell me what hadith (if any) the brelvis use to justify this (however weak, bent or misinterpreted it may be) beacuase I like to know everything about an issue before I condemn it and start telling others to not do it.
