It is legislated for the woman to perform her prayers in her house, for this is from the prescribed Islaamic duties pertaining to the household.

The prayer of the woman in her house is better than her prayer in the mosque of her people, and her prayer in the mosque of her people is better than her prayer in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) as has been established in the hadeeth.  And for that reason the obligation of the Juma'ah prayer is lifted from her.

And she is allowed to go to the mosque with the following rulings:

1 That she is safe from being a trial and that she is not put to trial herself.

2 That her presence does not result in a sharee-ah peril.

3 That she is neither crowded with men in the road nor in the Mosque.

4 That she goes out (of her house) with a neutral smell and not perfumed.

5 That she goes out (of her house) with the hijaab and not displaying her beautification.

6 That there is a specific door for the women in the mosque, by which they enter and exit the mosque, as established in the hadith in sunan abee daawood and other than it.

7 That the rows of the women are behind that of the men.

8 That the best of rows for the women are the back rows as opposed to that of the men.

9 And if the Imaam (adds something in the salaah that is not to be part of it or leaves something that should be part of it unintentionally), then the men are to say subhaanallaah and the woman is to clap.

10 The women are to exit the mosque before the men.  And it is required of the men to wait until the women are dispersed, as (reported) in the hadeeth of Umm Salamah (radiyallaahu-anhaa) in Saheeh Al Bukhaaree.

We ask Allah (subhaanah) to protect us from heedlessness with regards to paying attention to these rulings.

Indeed, the men are not to exceed the limits in preventing the sisters from the masjid and they are to apply these rulings applicable to them.  Likewise, the sisters are not to exceed the limits by going to the masjid and praying behind the men in those circumstances when such a virtuous act becomes extremely difficult to accomplish.

We ask Allah to direct us to that which is beloved to Him and His Messenger, and to that which is purer for our hearts.

Inshaa-Allah, this post will be followed by a series of admonitions by Sheikh Saaleh al Fawzaan regarding the plots of shaytaan in relation to the affair of the Muslim women.

The Plot Of Shaytaan Against The Muslims By Means Of The Woman

Indeed shaytaan's enmity towards man is an old affair, since the time of his father Aadam (alayhis-salaam).  He has not ceased plotting against man in order to destroy him, as Allah stated:

'If You give me respite (keep me alive) to the Day of Resurrection, I will surely seize and mislead his offspring (by sending them astray) all but a few!' 1[17:62]

And from the greatest plots of shaytaan against man is the uncovering of the private parts due to what is found in that of obscenity and immorality, and loss of shyness and modesty.  So he conspired against Aadam and his wife to eat from the forbidden tree, 'In order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts' [7:20]

So sin occurred from Aadam (alayhis-salaam) and Allah censured him for that.  He turned repented to Allah and Allah forgave him and severed the path of having recourse to shaytaan.  However, the effect of the sin remained, (causing) his expulsion from Paradise.  This increased Aadam in repentance and striving in obedience to his Lord.

'Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him with forgiveness, and gave him guidance' [20:122]

So shaytaan failed in attaining his goal and there came about for Aadam nobility and a good end....

Then Allah (subhaanah) warned the children of Aadam against the plots of this enemy who did what he did to their father, so that they are not deceived and made to fall into destruction through the path of negligence with regards to uncovering the private parts.  He (subhaanah) provided them with two (types) of garments to cover their private parts; the garment to cover and beautify themselves with, and the garment that covers them from sins and beatifies them both outwardly and inwardly, and that is the garment of piety that is made to settle in their hearts.  Allah (subhaanah) said:

'O Children of Aadam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts) and as an adornment; and the raiment of taqwah, that is better' [7:26]

'O Children of Aadam! Let not shaytaan deceive you, as he got your parents [Aadam and Hawwaa] out of Paradise, stripping them of their raiments, to show them their private parts' [7:27]

And Allah did not issue this warning to His slaves, except that because shaytaan would be pleased to have a return of victory over them, so that he may order them with nudity and the removal of the covering and garment of modesty due to what is in that of evil aims and lowly desires.

Indeed he (shaytaan) executed this plot against the People of Jaahiliyyah.  He ordered men and women to perform Tawaaf round the kabah naked, and then said to them: 'do not perform Tawaaf with the clothes you wore whilst being disobedient to Allah'.  So they obeyed him and argued that this is what they found their forefathers upon and that it is what Allah had commanded them with....

To be continued Inshaa-Allaah
