This afternoon, I went with a brother to see Sheikh Muhammad Abdulwahhab al-Banna in his Jeddah home. He was lying down and looked much better and stronger than the last time we saw him mashaallaah. He spoke about his masjid which is next door to his house in Jeddah, Safa district. He built it on his own land. He quoted the hadeeth that the one who builds a masjid for Allaah's sake then he will have a castle in paradise. Then I said to him, "I hope and pray that Allaah accepts it and that we can be your guest in paradise." Then he replied, "inshallaah I pray and hope we will enter it together." He made du'a to Allaah that he is blessed with a castle in paradise. He asked about the family and children and supplicated for my father shafahullaah. We asked him for advice and he said:

"We ask Allaah to be firmly established upon the Quran and the Sunnah in the understanding of the Sallaf and for a good end. Give my sallam and love to sheikh Ubayd al-Jaabiree."

He advised that we stick closely to the Book and the Sunnah in the understanding of the Sallaf. He then went on to say nobody speaks about the likes of Sheikh Ubayd al-Jaabiree except that his knowledge hasn't developed and is not firmly established to recognize knowledge. This is because I used to give Sheikh Muhammad al-Banna some of Sheikh Ubayd's lectures and ever since he loved him much. Once in Umrah he met Sheikh Ubayd and insisted that he have dinner with him.

He advised that the basis of Da'wah to the Kuffar should mainly stem from the Qur'an. He said that this life is good for the one who puts forward righteous actions and as for those who follow their desires then this life is bad for them.

I mentioned the numerous duroos that Sheikh Abdulmuhsin al-Abbad taught this year such as Sunan ibn Majah Muqadimah, taharah and salaat (at the end of it) and Umdat al-Ahkam, Kitaab Tahara and Salat. Likewise, that Sheikh Ubayd taught as-Sunnah of Imam al-Marwazi, Shuroot Salat, Manhaj Salikeen , Buyu' etc and the Sheikh was happy and said Madinah is calm and there is much good there for studying the deen. He said he was very happy when he was there and Sheikh al-Albaani (rahimahullaah) was his neighbour for there was much benefit.

He showed much concern for the hereafter and he kept repeating that we are living in times of fitnah (trials and tribulations) so he advised that one always be sincere to Allaah and to ask for that in their supplications along with Thabat (to be firm upon the truth). He also advised that we be well aware of the plots of the Sufees such as Jamaat Tableegh etc. I wanted to give him more good news and said that Sheikh Rabee' hafidhahullaah has printed up to fifteen books this year. In response, Sheikh Muhammad al Banna spoke well of Sheikh Rabee' ibn Haadi and said "his knowledge and understanding are good mashaallaah may Allaah reward him for his efforts."

This evening Sheikh Ubayd al-Jaabiree returned from Yemen after teaching there for the past nine days mashaallaah. He taught Usool Sunnah, Aslu Sunnah, Kitaab al-Eman and Talaaq from Saheeh al-Bukhaaree mashaallaah. Prior to this, he attended the dawrah in Madinah in Masjid Qiblatain where he taught Kitaab Eman of Saheeh al-Bukhaaree too. He said tomorrow he will be catching the flight to Hafr Batin inshaallaah for the dawrah there. Then when he comes back he goes straight to Jeddah for the Dawrah in Jeddah to continue Kitaab Tawheed.

Sheikh Ubayd told me that if I were with him I would have seen how every dars in Yemen was attended by large crowds just like 'Eed. He said it was a very prosperous trip where he met some of the mashayakh of Yemen and delivered a lecture where Sheikh Muhammad Abdulwahhab al-Wassabi was from the latter's invitation.

May Allaah reard our Scholars for their efforts in helping the people understand their religion. As Sheikh Bin Baz rahimahullaah said, "ease is in the hereafter" meaning this dunya is for striving.

قال تعالى:{إنا نحن نزلنا الذكر وإنا له لحافظون}

May Allaah reward the Mashaykh, grant us refuge from laziness and enable us to strive for His cause by seeking knowledge, worshipping Him by it, inviting people to Islam and Sunnah and spreading ilm with hikmah. Aameen.
