What is "Sati"?
Sati is the practice of widow burning (being cremated with her dead husband). A woman who dies burning herself on her husbands funeral fire was considered most virtuous, and was believed to directly go to heaven, redeeming all the forefathers rotting in hell, by this "meritorious" act.
The woman (Hindu widow) who committed Sati was worshipped as a Goddess, and temples were built in her memory.
The most high-profile Sati incident was in Rajasthan in 1987 when 18-year-old Roop Kanwar was burned to death.
The case sparked national and international outrage.
Police charged Roop Kanwar's father-in-law and brother-in-law with forcing her to sit on the pyre with her husband's body.
Sati is believed to have originated some 700 years ago among the ruling class or Rajputs in India.
The Rajput women burnt themselves after their men were defeated in battles to avoid being taken by the victors. But it came to be seen as a measure of wifely devotion in later years.
The custom was outlawed by India's British rulers in 1829 following demands by Indian reformers.
But this cruel inhumane Hindu practice still occurs rarely, mostly in parts of northern and central India.

'Bride burning'
The Brahmins in India and the Disbelievers all around the world make a big campaign that Islaam restricts the freedom of women.
When a Hindu wedding takes place, the girl's family has to offer an enormous dowry to the bridegroom/family.
Paying and accepting dowry has been illegal in India for 40 years but it is still rampant.
"Sometimes women are tortured to squeeze more money out of their families
and in extreme cases they're killed. Then the husband is free to remarry and get another dowry,"
This type of murder is often called "bride burning" in India.
Dowries have become such a burden that many families are desperate to avoid having girls.
Pregnant women can determine the sex of the baby and abort the female foetuses with ultrasound technology.
Indian Government statistics show that husbands and in-laws killed nearly 7,000 women in 2001 over inadequate dowry payments.

Female Feticide
Female Feticide is the abortion of an unwanted girl.
The Hindu's in India have the highest record of discrimination against women.
In India, girls are seen as an economic burden by their Hindu parents because they need a dowry for marriage. Male children are supposed to carry on the family trade and support their parents in their old age.
In India's male-dominated society, especially in the northwest, this logic is one reason parents abort an estimated half-million female fetuses each year. This murder of half-million females each year is more than any war or disaster.
Allaah said in the Quraan:
"[meaning] And kill not your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Surely, the killing of them is a great sin."

A sick Hindu custom.
A brief burial of young girls to appease female deities.
These Hindu oppress animals, men, women and even children.
If these Hindu's are not killing their unborn female children then they are briefly burying them to appease female deities.
In India more than 100 children have undergone a brief burial in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu as part of an ancient Hindu ritual to appease female deities.
The children, most of them young girls, were swathed heavily in cloth dipped in turmeric water before being buried in a pit and taken out after about a minute.
Allaah said in the Qur'aan:
"[meaning: They (all those who worship others than Allaah) invoke nothing but female deities besides Him (Allaah), and they invoke nothing but Shaitân (satan), a persistent rebel!"

The Disbeliever wrongfully ridicule Islaam saying it mistreats women, then what about these Hindu's who burn the widows alive, kill millions of unborn female children every year and briefly bury alive young girls to appease female deities.

Plight of Widows in India
India alone has almost 40 million widows.
Traditionally Hinduism frowns on widows remarrying and many have their social and economic power eroded too.
Because the sick Hindu custom of Sati (the practice of a widow immolating herself on her husband's funeral pyre) is outlawed and occurs rarely.
The Hindu Widows are forced to live Harsh lives. Many have been forced to shave their heads. All wear the colour of grief, waiting for the day they too will follow their husbands into the afterlife. Their presence at family public functions were totally forbidden.
The women struggle to stay awake. But they must, because a shift here earns them one plate of rice and lentils, just enough to survive.
Widows are excluded from many religious ceremonies and, unlike men, not allowed to remarry.
The atrocities are manifold - one is due to hunger, the second - no shelter - they have to depend on Hindu men who in turn molest them or take advantage of their vulnerability.
They sometimes get raped, disfigured and abandoned by their families.
Every six hours somewhere in India a young married women is burnt alive, beaten to death, or driven to commit suicide. Yet, these Disbelievers have the nerve to criticize Islaam and make false claims that it takes away the rights of women.

Female foetuses were being aborted and baby girls deliberately neglected and left to die
Allaah said the Quraan:
"[Meaning] And they assign daughters unto Allaah! Glorified (and Exalted) be He above all that they associate with Him! And unto themselves what they desire;
And when the news of (the birth of) a female (child) is brought to any of them, his face becomes dark, and he is filled with inward grief!"
[An-Nahl 16:57-58]
How foolish and ignorant are these Musrikoon who assign daughters unto Allaah (Glorified and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him), but when the news of the birth of a female child is brought to any of them, they faces becomes dark filled with inward grief!!!
A report by the UK charity says increasing numbers of female foetuses were being aborted and baby girls deliberately neglected and left to die.
