Is it okay to wear an abaya with designs such as attractive patterns,colors, beads etc.? When covering the adornment is commanded by Allah in the Quran does it only mean to cover the body or does it mean to cover the body as well as jewelry and other beautification. Is wearing attrative designs on the abaya the same as wearing adornments? How do I clarify this issue to a sister who believes that the abaya is only meant to cover the body and not other types of beautification. She believes that when Allah said "Except what is apparent" that it means the Abaya in any form it comes in (decorated, jeweled or plain). Thus meaning you must cover only your body's curves and that your abaya may be decorated because it appears "elegant" and "non muslims are more attracted to covering this way".
