As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,

Regarding being unclear of the permissability of a matter that is not known to be Haram; In a disagreement some people have different opinions of what should be done. Below are the different views of the common people:

- Some common people (in regards to knowledge) just say " Stay away from that which we are in doubt about".
- Other common people (in regards to knowledge) use a general hadeeth and apply it to the matter. They then say that we shouldnt contact the people of knowledge with every matter that we are in doubt about.
- Other common folk (in regards to knowledge) say " We should stay away from it because It Is a matter in doubt until it becomes clear. We then should have it clarified by asking those Who Know because we dont know". And the third one being mentioned accepts both 'Staying away from that which we are in doubt about' and 'Asking those who know when we dont know' and they say that this religion is a religion of proofs and evidences."

1. What is the corret view?
2. What is a better way of advising the people of staying away from relying on ones own limited knowledge in affairs that have not already been made clear and from disliking to ask the people who know?

Jazaaka Allahu Khayrin

Wa as salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu.

Al-Fudayl ibn Iyyad (Rahimahullaah) said: "Man's fear of Allaah is equal to his Knowledge of Him and his renunciation of worldly pleasures is equal to his desire in the Hereafter."
