I would like to know if anyone could explain, or at least point me to a book (or journal article), concerning the wisdom behind the compiling and sorting of hadith into the various chapters which we now see in the major collections. Is there a particular methodology behind putting one chapter ahead of the other? And is there a reason why one hadith comes before another in a single chapter?
