Once a fellow co-worker asked me why do Muslims pray? I know that there are many reasons why we pray. However, I don't know all the reasons. Can the members of this noble board participate and help me enumerate all of the known reasons to this question with specific reference to the Quraan and Sunnah. A simple answer would be Muslims pray because 1. Allah and His Messenger(sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) commanded us to pray. Of course, fulfilling our duties towards Allah is the number one reason, but I would like to know the other reasons as well. Eventually, I would like to present the list to the enquiring co-worker. Jazak Allahu Khairan for any forthcoming information. (I wonder how many points we could come up with using authentic sources.)
