As-Salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaah

Its Asr time here in Saudi Arabia on the 29th of Sha'baan, and we will begin looking for the moon to determine if we start fasting tomorrow or count out 30 days.

Just before I posted my first mail I was aware that fatwa online had changed to 29 shahban.  14 hours before that in the morning of the same day they showed it as 27th shahban and Arab news showed it as 28 shahban. My inquiry was why the sudden change? Was it an official (govt) change?

Asslaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

I pray you are well and in strength of Imaan upon this Noble Da'wah.

Dear Brothers,

I also agree with brother reza's post. I also adviced Fatwa-online on yesterday, that because of It carried the date " [Sunday] al-Ahad 26 Sha'baan 1423 AH  =  November 3, 2002 CE  " in teh beginning of the day.

But today they suddenly changed the date to the correct date as per counting.

But some brothers adviced that Saudi was counting the
29th of Sha'ban in the Asr time Today(04.11.02).

How can this be..?
Only the new moon for Sha'ban was sighted all over the world on the 7th of October. Then as per the counting, the 29 th of Sha'ban only come after the Ma'rib time of the 4th of November. and we have to search for the new moon on the night of 5th November.

But other brother said that saudi was counting the 29th of sha'ban today(before ma'rib)and searching for the new moon for Ramadhan tonight(04.11.02)...then when they saw the New Moon for Sha'ban(did they saw the moon on 6th October & started the Month on 7th October/but as per we know the world only sighten the new moon on 7th of October, insha allhi ta'alaa)

Allah knows best.
We are awaiting the advice/explanation from the brotehrs in Saudi who are in conatct with the Kibaar ulema. as soon as possible.

Irshad muhammed.

no, this is correct, as there has been no change in the date since the beginning of the month.  I have gone by these days all month and we use the Islaamic calendar in school.  I had a midterm yesterday, Monday the 29th, that was scheduled two weeks ago on Monday the 15th of Sha'baan.

If there was a mistake in the fatwa-online calendar, I don't know what caused it.

The latest news from here- we just prayer 'eshaa' with no taraaweeh after it, so no official moon sighting yet

(8:20 pm Makkah time)

ok brother. To count the Monday(4th Nov) as the 29th of Sha'ban you shoud have seen the Moon on 6th October and counted the Month from 7th October.

But as we got to know, first the Moon sighted on the 7th of October. And we counted the month from 8th October.

Can brother Moosa pls tell me from where Saudi sighted the new moon for Sha'ban and pls tell me the accurate information sooner.

Awaiting On-Line for a sooner reply from Brother Moosaa. Also I like to know where are you from Brother(Moosaa) and even pls mail me to my personnel e-mail address, waiting online.

I don't know anything about that.  I just know the date the people are going by, that's all.  I don't know anything about the moon sighting for Sha'baan.  All I know is that it is now the night before Tuesday the 30th of Sha'baan here (or the 1st of Ramadhaan if the moon is spotted).

When it comes to October and November etc, I really do not keep track.  Sometimes I have to post some information about an event or something in America so then I just use the calendar on my computer to find out what the date is according to the kaafirs.

ANd I'm from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the USA.

I recieved this today:

Asslaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

Just a short time ago, Fatwa-Online was informed of the official

decision and announcement of the High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia

that since the moon of Ramadhaan was not sighted this evening, here in

Saudi Arabia, we shall be completing thirty (30) days of Sha'baan (1423

A.H.), in accordance with the hadeeth of the Messenger of Allaah

(sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam):

((Fast when you see the crescent. If it is obscured to you, then

complete thirty days of Sha'baan. And break your fast when you see the

crescent. If it is obscured to you then fast thirty days)), [transmitted

by al-Bukhaaree and Muslim].

Subsequently, we shall be starting our taraaweeh prayers tomorrow

evening (Tuesday 5 November 2002) after the 'Ishaa. prayer, in

preparation for the first fast of Ramadhaan on Wednesday 6 November

2002, inshaa.-Allaah.

Wassallaam 'alaykum wa rahmatullaah.

Since there was no moon sighting here, we counted 30 days for Sha'baan (that was the day that just ended - Tuesday the 30th of Sha'baan).  We just prayed qiyaam al-layl as it is now the night of the first of Ramadhaan here, may Allaah give us the benefit of Ramdadhaan.

Moosaa from Makkah, 9:20 pm, the night before Wednesday the 1st of Ramadhaan
