To whom it may concern

Assalaamu alaykum

This is a necessary clarification Waseem Maalik and I would like to make.  It is NOT a bayaan.

I must stress that no one has requested or asked me to do this, or even suggested it.  I am not writing this because I am accountable to anyone or because I feel I have to justify myself.  But, I feel it's necessary because a considerable number of people, both Salafee and non-Salafee, have spoken to us asking different questions about our daw'ah.

As such, we would like to explain/clarify the following (in no particular order):

.We use the term "maktabah" in our name/title because we are a book distribution initiative.  The term does not imply that we are a bookshop or daw'ah org., and shouldn't be (mis)understood as such.

.We only stock books published by Salafee charitable publishers, although make necessary exceptions at our discretion.

.The fact that most of the books we stock are published by the same publishers is not "hizbiyyah".  Rather, it just so happens that in the english language there are two main Salafi publishers that are charitable; one in Birmingham and one in Toronto.  And, it's from the correct wala to support the Salafees first.

.However, we do also distribute some books, which are not on our list, which are published by Salafee publishers that are not charitable.

.Our daw'ah is a specialist daw'ah, concerned with Tawheed and aqeedah/manhaj only.  We don't stock books or CDs on general or fiqh isues.

.Maktabah Yahyaa ibn Ma'een is a book and CD drive only.  It is not a general all-round mainstream daw'ah serving the community.  For example, we have no intention whatsoever of opening a masjid, madrassah or centre.  Nor do we have any intention of having community events, such as 'Eid gatherings, etc. etc.

.We only stock the latest or most recent titles on our chosen subjects.  Although we do also stock some of the classics.

.Following on from the point above, we're really not interested in old titles ie. books published years ago or CDs of old lectures.  We are upfront with our titles, dealing mainly with the new material that's being released weekly.

.We want to try and place love in the hearts of our recipients for the major scholars of this time.  Hence, our decision to start stocking books by Shaykh Rabee' ibn Haadee even though one is published by a hizbee business trading off of his name, and the other two by a publisher that's Salafee but not charitable.

.Our daw'ah is very different to that of North London Daw'ah.  As previously stated, we are a book and CD drive, whereas their daw'ah is much more general for the community eg. they've had classes and an event for non-Muslims.  In addition, they are based in a different part of north London to us and we also work in other areas such as Essex.  And so, the inception of Makatbah Yahyaa ibn Ma'een should not be suspected as iftiraaq.

.Maktabah Yahyaa ibn Ma'een is distinguished by the two main preferences we founded it upon:

1. Trying to only stock books and CDs published and produced by Salafee publishers and producers who are charitiable.

2. Only stocking and distributing the latest or most recent titles.

We would like to take this opportunity to say "Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuh" and "Jazaakumullaahu khayrun" to S'Pubs, T.R.O.I.D and Tasfiyah wat-Tarbiyah Publications.
