As Salaamu Alaykum

I often find in discussions with brothers, people making ta?weel of the following Ayah:

66:6..?O you who believe! Protect yourselves and your families against a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones??

Too many of us use this Ayah as an excuse to detatch ourselves from evil, and remain silent about it when it?s right in front of us, and neglect our obligation to enjoin good and forbid evil when we see it(assuming one has the knowledge and wisdom to repel it).  This is done behind the pretense that ?I?m saving myself and my family from the fire?.   May Allaah Azza wa Jall cause all of us to heed His Ayaat and Reminders?Allaahumma  Aameen!

Tafsir Surah Tahrim 66:6, Teaching One's Family the Religion and Good Behavior  - ibn Kathir (Rahimahullaah)

`Ali bin Abi Talhah reported from Ibn `Abbas (Radiyya?Allaahu Anhu):

"Work in the obedience of Allah, avoid disobedience of Allah and order your families to remember Allah, then Allah will save you from the Fire.?

Mujahid (Rahimahullaah) also commented on:

?Have Taqwa of Allah and order your family to have Taqwa of Him?

Qatadah (Rahimahullaah) said:

"He commands obedience to Allah, to not disobey Allah, he orders his family to obey His orders and helps them to act upon His orders. When one sees disobedience, he stops them and forbids them from doing it.''

Ad-Dahhak and Muqatil (Rahimahumullaah):

"It is an obligation for the Muslim to teach his near family members, and his male and female slaves what Allah has made obligatory for them and what Allah has forbidden for them.''

Baraka?Allaahu Feekum,

Daud

..."Know that the Religion is what came from Allaah, the Blessed and Most High.  It is not something left to the intellects and opinions of men.  Knowledge of it is what comes from Allaah and His Messenger (Salallaahu Alayhi wa Salam)"...Imam Barbahaaree
