wa 'alaykumus-salaam wa rahmatullaah

I hear from some brothers who were recently there that it's difficult there now and that the government does not want anyone who is a non-Yemeni studying Islam there, especially if he's from the West (i.e. America, Europe, etc.). When I was in leaving Yemen in April of this year the airport security told me that the American Government forced them to apply these new rigid rules and they are under pressure to expell all foreigners studying Islaam there, especially Westerners. However, what's strange about this is that I hear from some people here in our city (Atlanta) that some of my enemies here among the deviant Sufees who study in Hadhramawt have been going in and out "without hassel"!!! One of them just came back and another just went. One brother and his entire family went from here (Atlanta). They all go to a place called Tarim I think. It's in Hadhramawt, but the people there worship graves and they are upon some Sufi Tareeqah. Their Shaikhs also win them over by claiming to be min Ahlil-Baytin-Nubuwwah (the Prophet's family). They teach taqleed of the Shaafi'ee mathhab in Fiqh as well. I still trying to piece together why they are being allowed to go in and out with no problems. It's puzzling to me. I would ask them how they do it, but of course I have no relationship with them and they stopped coming to our Masjid when I returned from Saudi and they saw that I "play hard ball" with callers to innovation.

Anyway, I have a brother-in-law whose Yemeni who studies in Damaaj. He just came back to Aden for a break to spend Ramadhaan with his family. He told me that he'll go back in Shawaal. I'll ask him the next time I talk to him what's going on at Darul-Hadeeth.

Akhee, I know exacly which place in Yemen you are talking about. Tarin, Hadramout. They have an msn group and a web site. They offer 2 programs. One Preparatory Islamic Studies 2 years and a 1-year intensive Arabic. They go over Arabiyyat un-Naashi'een ( 6 books from Saudi). Thre place  is 115% SUFEE. Anything from graves to "saints", to you-name-it Sufee thing. But you can get a iqama RIGHT AWAY. And update it every year. I talked to a couple that was there for 5 years. Whan I mentioned Shaykh Muqbil they spoke well of him (a british couple) but if you go on the msn groups they have some pics of the place and it is a heaven for sufees akhee.

jazak'allah hayr
