A MESSAGE FROM DAGAMBIA
Bismillahi ar rahmaanir raheem
We?ve had a number of enquiries with regards to what is going on with Darul Athaar Gambia, particularly given that the website is currently down.
In response, basically the dawah effort with Dagambia is continuing and alhamdulillah by the grace and mercy of Allah some progress was made this summer with a few more brothers accepting the dawah. We also successfully distributed a large amount of literature and tapes from the ulema like Shaykh Al Albaani, Shaykh Rabee and others alongside very popular treatise like Usool Sunnah of Imaam Ahmad which was snatched up by the youth there walhamdulillah.
Unfortunately the centre that we had set up is no longer up and running. With Abul Laith travelling to Medina to complete his studies in the Jamiaah, we had nobody reliable enough to leave behind to administer the affairs. So we retracted a refund on the rent we paid for the remaining period of the year and we used some of that to purchase a plot of land. Some of the funding was used to give some aid to a local village Quran School (ie madrasa see below), with the rest of the funds being used in the general affairs of the dawah like producing leaflets and purchasing equipment to make copies of the tapes of the ulema to distribute amongst the youth in the local area.
THE QURAN SCHOOL IN KOLORO VILLAGE.
Koloro is a village which is dominated by the same tribe as the brothers working behind Dagambia. The Quraanic school is essentially a madrasah which teaches the children Quraan and basic acts of worship in the traditional fashion, however it is poorly funded especially when compared to the Christian missionary funded schools nearby wallahumustaan. Over 100 children residing in the village are registered here to memorise the book of Allah. Most children have to sit on the bare ground but a few of the fortunate ones sit on sheepskin mats. The school is in need of severe funding, given that we've purchased land in the area we regard it amongst the top of our priorities to benefit the local community by opening the call to the Tawheed and Sunnah here. To this end we have entered into a series of negotiations with the village elders as an initiative to build trust and acquaintance. The meetings due to the family links and our willingness to help proved fruitful, with the committee of elders showing a willingness to allow us to teach the children the aqeedah and basics of Islaam, and to help in providing them with a more solid and true Islaamic education. With this in mind we have taken it upon ourselves to sponsor and coordinate the maintenance of the school. In the month of August for example we donated prayer mats and water jugs as a jesture of our co-operation as well pledging 2 boxes of the Quraan.
To build upon this we intend to extend the facility and to improve the general conditions therein, the fact that this is an established madrasah means it presents us with a good base for giving dawah and preparing the children to become the future du?aat who will one day inshallah warn their people from shirk and bidah and call them to Tawheed the Sunnah and the blessed salafee manhaj. It also affords us the opportunity to establish ourselves with the community and strengthen our hand for giving the Salafee dawah to the youth and general people. As an added advantage the position of the madrasah in the village means it will be relatively cheap to extend and develop. In time we expect this will represent a valuable part of Dagambia's efforts.
THE SALAFEE LIBRARY
Alongside this we have walillahil hamd established a Salafee library. The library contains a vast range of books in the various sciences including Aqeedah like the explanation of the three fundamental principles by Uthaymeen, Kitaabu Tawheed, Sharus Sunnah, Usool Sunnah), Tafsir like Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Fiqh like Sifatu Salaatul Nabi and many other books. We purchased approximately 300kg of books from Saudi Arabia in both English and Arabic to enable the people to gain access to these most precious resources. We also purchased over 300 tapes from the ulema like Shaykh Albaani?s ?Adawatus Salafiyyah? and tapes from the likes of Shaykh Uthaymeen, Shaykh Rabee and other then them from the ulema, and distributed them. Alongside this we also sent over books that we purchased from Salafibookstore in the UK.
Inshallah this is an update to clarify briefly what has been going on with the Dagambia and what the funds which we raised have been used for over the last year or so.
At this present time Dagambia funding is severely limited, and we have received only SEVENTY POUNDS in the last 6 months, and that has been from no more then 10 donors jazahumallahkhairaa.
A FINAL POINT CONCERNING HIJRAH
Barakallahufeekum we are still on occasion receiving requests for information concerning hijrah and help with regards to it. In response to this we would like to clarify once again Dagambia is a DAWAH project for the GAMBIAN people that is the reason for it being set up. It has not been set up as a Hijrah organisation. Hopefully this clarification will make the message clear to all that Dagambia is in more need of support then it is in a position to support the Hijrah efforts of others.
THE WEBSITE
The website is currently down because the web space contract period has expired, we are currently in the process of arranging the funds to renew the web space and update the site. By the permission of Allah that will be completed shortly.
Finally we are waiting upon establishing a more specific project plan for our future activities, if any of the brothers or sisters are capable to donate that would be appreciated and the money as we have shown above will be put to good use. We expect to post another update, and have the website fully updated within the next few months bidnillah.
