My dear beloved brother:

As Salaamu 'Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allaahi wa Barakaatuhu

Please, do not misunderstand what I am saying as in no way am I trying to belittle any brother.  We know that we can eat the meat of the Christians and Jews. My concern is: Who slaughtered the meat? Not how. (Page 3, question 2: Q&A concerning the meat of Ahlul-Kitab as cited on December 2, 2004 TROID Publications). The question is always posed; can we eat the meat of Ahlul-Kitab? Not everyone in America is Ahlul-Kitab; this is a secular country by its own definition (with a large Christian element).

Therefore, the meat that is in the local supermarket may have been slaughtered by an atheist, Buddhist, Sikh, or Hindu. We know these people are not Ahlul-Kitab and their meat is not permissible.

My intention is only to help the Muslims and be on the Haqq. I have made too many mistakes in the past, ease is not my concern, truth is my concern. Could someone contact the Ulema and ask this question in a clear way such as: ?Can we eat the meat from the local stores knowing that America is a secular country and everyone is not Ahlul-Kitab and there are no restrictions on Buddhist, Sikh, Hindus, or Atheist slaughtering animals?? This I believe is a needed, clear and a true reflection of the concerns of the Muslims who are striving to follow the Salaf. Forgive me if I said anything wrong.

Barak Allahu Feekum,

Bismillaah

Assallaamu alaikum

Akhi Daud I would find it very strange to see a Hindu, Buddhist or Sikh slaughtering animals as by definition of their beliefs, all of the people mentioned here are 'strict' vegetarians.  wAllaahu a'lam.

This is especially in the case of the Buddhist and Hindu as they worship the animals we may eat.  Alhumdulillaah.

Akhi barakAllaahu feek the countries a lot of us reside in promote democracy (may Allaah make them fail) but the leaders are known Christians, who openly pronounce their belief.  To try and answer your question about who slaughters the meat.

Quote:

"Therefore, the meat that is in the local supermarket may have been slaughtered by an atheist, Buddhist, Sikh, or Hindu. We know these people are not Ahlul-Kitab and their meat is not permissible."

Then inshaAllaah the question is answered by the Shaykh rahimahullaah in the same article you mentioned on Troid. pages 2 & 3.

Quote:

"As far as the methodology of the slaughtering, we do not enquire about the method because if an action has occured 'min ahlihi' (at the hands of those suited to perform such an act) the conditions surrounding that are not asked about."

Also the Hadeeth of A'aishah the shayks brings found in Bukharee helps to clarify this further inshaAllaah.

I would like to ask this inshaAllaah.  Is it for us to question a person's belief in such matters?

InshaAllaah this is sufficient, if not then please forgive my shortcomings.  BarakAllaahu feekum. Walhumdulillaahir rabbill 'aalameen.

wassallaamu alaikum

I also have a question, does the same ruling apply when buying Burgers, containing meat from fast-food joints, like McDonalds/KFC/Burger King etc?
Forgive me if my questions already been answered I just wanted to make sure.

Bismi'llaah wal hamdu lillah

as-salaamu 'alaikum,

"On a lighter note insha'Allaah"

The following is NOT meant to be used as a 'Proof' or 'Evidence' , but I only wish to relate what I thought was an interesting exchange that took place between two of the brothers (both Salafees insha'Allaah) at our local masjid:

A younger brother (may Allaah bless him) still holds some "doubts" concerning the permissiblity of the meat here in america, so he said:
quote:

Brothers, I don't believe that the christians of America today can possibly be considered the same as the Ahlul-Kitaab that were living during the time of Muhammad صل الله عليه و سلم

So one of the elder brothers (may Allaah bless him) who holds the opinion that the meat in america "is" permissible replied by saying:
quote:

Na'am Akhee, and who among us living today can be considered the same as those Muslims who were living during the time of Muhammad صل الله عليه و سلم ?

That made me (smile).

waAllaahu 'alam
