About Insight Audio and Its Proprietor

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Merciful, may Allaah's Salaah and Salaam be upon the Final Messenger, to proceed:

(( O you who believe!  Fear Allaah and say a just, truthful word, (as a result) He will correct your affairs and forgive your sins.  And whoever has obeyed Allaah has achieved a great success. )) [33:70]

Al-Qurtubee mentions in his tafseer of this aayah that the (( just, truthful word )) is one that is said to seek the Pleasure of Allaah and none else, and that it is a word said to reconcile what is between two differing parties.

After looking into the issue of what has been said about Insight Audio and its proprietor, Aboo Muhammad Al-Louweesianee, and then hearing reports from trustworthy people who have known the brother closely for some time, and discussing the issue with other students and callers, I feel the need to say the following, seeking Allaah's Aid:

Aboo Muhammad is apparently a brother who is putting forth efforts to aid the Salafee Da'wah.  It is not known that he has any affiliation with any deviants, or that he has any hidden agenda.  Those who know him have mentioned that he is known for his contributions to the da'wah and his support.  He is with the Salafees and their scholars and aids the organizations that promote the da'wah.

This is what I understand about him and Allaah is his true Reckoner, and I praise no one above Allaah.

Since this is what is known about him, then it is not permissible for anyone to speak about his motives or his goals without evidence.  It is waajib upon us to deal with the people based on what we see from them, from their own actions and statements, not from what "may" be in their chests.

'Umar ibn al-Khattaab said, "People used to be assessed by way of the revelation in the time of the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam.  And verily the revelation has ceased (to come down due to the death of the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam).  So now we only hold you accountable for your actions that are made apparent to us, whoever outwardly manifests goodness, then we feel safe with him and we grant him closeness.  And it is not for us (to look into) his inner intentions in any way, as Allaah will hold him accountable for his inner intentions.  And whoever outwardly manifests evil, then we do not feel safe with him nor do we believe him, even if he was to say that his inner intentions are good." [al-Bukhaaree #2641]

And it is also not permissible to blame a person for making a profit from his work that is related to the da'wah.  No matter how much profit a person makes selling CDs or other products and services related to da'wah, we can not blame him, so long as he aids the Haqq, his transactions are permissible ones, and he pays the zakaah on his wealth.  We hope that all people who open businesses to sincerely aid the Salafee Da'wah are successful and prosperous.  Furthermore, we would encourage them to spend from their profits (give sadaqah) to help the da'wah further, leaving that affair to them, as it is optional.

Furthermore, we are in dire need of Salafees who can focus on one aspect of the da'wah, like making recordings in the best possible way, using the most advanced technology, and marketing products related to the da'wah in a way that reaches the people far and wide.  Da'wah organizations and masjids can not be expected to be highly qualified in each and every skill needed to promote the da'wah.

In light of what has been said, it is my personal conviction that the actual statements of some of our brothers against Aboo Muhammad (not the lies and forged emails being passed around) and the direction of his business are to be ignored, as they are incorrect and inaccurate.

"All of the children of Aadam are continuously falling into error, and the best of them are the tawwaaboon (those who continuously repent)." [Saheeh, Ibn Maajah #4251]

We trust that anyone who spoke ill without right of Aboo Muhammad personally, either directly or indirectly, explicitly or inexplicitly, publicly or privately, that they will realize and acknowledge this error, repent to Allaah, retract their statement, and then keep ties with their brother Aboo Muhammad and help each other in acts of goodness and piety, if that is not already being done, due to Allaah's Statement:

(( So fear Allaah and correct that which is between yourselves )) [8:1]

Any statements about Aboo Muhammad (or Insight Audio) suggesting that he seeks to control the da'wah or that his sole motive is profit, must be rejected and not given any weight, as those who know him and this Da'wah find this to be totally unfounded.   I hope that this is the position of justice and balance that Allaah wants from His believing servants, as there is no hizbiyyah in Salafiyyah.  Our manhaj is one of refuting the mistake, no matter who it comes from.

Allaah says: (( O you who believe, be those who stand out firmly for justice, witnesses for Allaah, even if it be against your own selves, or your parents and close relatives. )) [4:135]

And Aboo Muhammad should be thanked for his contributions to the da'wah as well, and also for his patience and lenience with those who spoke about him without right.  We offer him the consolation found in the hadeeth of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam):

"The believer who mixes with the people and bears their harms is better than the believer who does not mix with the people nor bear their harms."
[Saheeh, Ibn Maajah #4032]

I ask Allaah to forgive me and my believing brothers, and that he does not allow any rancour to exist in our hearts against our brothers upon the Salafee manhaj.  May He increase us in patience and mutual cooperation upon goodness.

*This was originally written about six weeks ago.  I originally decided not to post it since Allaah has been blessing the brothers with good efforts to reconcile and correct the wrongs.  Al-hamdulillaah, for this success, and we ask Allaah to increase us all in tawbah, humility, and correctness.  I post it now simply to offer a clarification about Aboo Muhammad, the correct position regarding what originally transpired, and as good tidings to the Salafees who love reconciliation and clarity.

And Allaah knows best. (1425/4/25)

I am very, very happy that this statement has been presented by brother Moosaa. Aboo Muhammad [al-Looweesinaaee] and I have discussed these issues in the not so distant past and I assured him that the truth would soon bring him solace, but that patience was important.

This is not new to Aboo Muhammad having been the victim of slander and fabrications from Aboo Muslimah's camp of being an agent for the U.S. government!

[edited]

I visited our brother, Aboo Muhammad Looweesiaanee at his home late last night and was reflecting on the first time I met him. That first visit to my house was based on acquisition of knowledge and the spreading of the da'wah. He struck me then [as now] as person of sincerity, integrity and honesty, and I do not praise anyone after Allaah and Allaah is his Haseeb.

In conclusion, I commend Moosaa Abool Abbaas for his comments and pray that those who might have harbored any misgivings concerning InsightAudio or its founder are now done away with, for surely this is a deen established upon facts not fiction, certainty and not nafs-prodded insinuations or edited, yeasted up, fabricated emails - which seem to be quite common these days - to make salafees seem like that they are saying something they did not say.

And Allaah is the Source of all strength

May Allaah bless and reward Aboo Muhammad for his contributions to the da'wah, and may He allow him to continue contributing his expertise to the salafee communities in the West and beyond.
