UPDATE: Saudi Ambassador Responds to Terrorist Act

[Washington, DC] -- A car bomb exploded today near the General Directorate of Traffic in Riyadh, resulting in the death of four people - two security officers, a civilian employee and an 11-year old girl - and injuring 148, of whom 45 are still hospitalized.  At 2:00 p.m. local time, a car tried to enter the traffic headquarters.  When stopped by the guards on duty, the driver exploded the car about 30 yards from the gate.

Ambassador to the United States Prince Bandar bin Sultan commented on today?s incident, saying:  ?This attack on our nation?s capital was a despicable act by a desperate group of criminals who are devoid of all Islamic and human values.  Our thoughts and sympathies are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.  We pray that the souls of those who were lost will be blessed, and we wish a quick and full recovery for those who were injured.  The entire nation is committed to ending the threat posed by these terrorists and their cowardly attacks on our peaceful society.  The Saudi people will not be intimidated, and, with the help of God Almighty, these criminals will receive just and swift retribution.?

Earlier this week, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, First Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard, spoke during a cabinet meeting of terrorism as wreaking havoc on the earth, and of the aggression committed by a deviant and evil group of people. He stressed that the group of terrorists that is targeting the Kingdom's stability and is deliberately threatening the people?s safety, will on the contrary only enhance Saudi Arabia?s cohesion and unity, and the commitment of all its citizens, including the security forces, to confront anyone who tries to harm its capabilities and security.

Imaam al-Awzaa'ee said, "Patiently restrict yourselves to the sunnah, stop where the people stopped, say what they said, avoid what they avoided. Take to the path of the salaf, for indeed what was sufficient for them was sufficient for you."

Having myself read the so-called statement of the Grand Mufti, فضيلة الشيخ عبد العزيز آل الشيخ in the Arab News, I found it hard to imagine that the noble shaikh would have made a statement condemning specific individuals to the Hellfire no matter how evil the crime may have been. When such statements are read from an unreliable source then caution must be taken. The above article from لمعة الاعتقاد  can mistakingly leave the impression in some individuals that the noble Shaikh is not aware of this point of 'aqeedah, and Allah's refuge is sought. If you look at the statements of the Grand Mufti on the front page of today's article at http://www.sahab.net you will not find any such statement. On the contrary the Grand Mufti called on the perpertrators of this henious crime, to make tawbah for what they are upon, and that they should examine themselves and realise their errors. They should also know for certain that they will meet Allaah, and will be burdened with the debt of having the blood of innocent souls!!

Clarification Concerning the Article from al-Itiqaad:

I recant from posting that article from Lum'aat al-'Itqaad out of its proper place and context.  It was inapproprate and a BIG mistake.  I should let those more knowledgable reply to matters like these, and I will not transgress those bounds again bi idhnillaahu subaanahu wa tabaaraka wa ta'Aala.

I hope that Allaah makes me from the foremost of those who defend our 'Ulema from the false claims made about them and I ask Allaah to reward brother Abdul Hakeem with khair for publicly correcting my mistake and clarifying the truth with regards to what our Noble Shaykh had actually said.  Ameen.
