Assalaamu Alaykum

This is something we have compiled concerning Bahrain, for those who are thinking about going there to study with shaykh Fawzee al-Atharee, or his wife (May Allaah preserve them both.. Ameen!)

The markaz, that we stayed in was called Markaz Imaam Bukharee (one of over 20 maraakiz in Bahrain, each named after the imams of the past, e.g. Markaz Abu Dawood, etc) and was situated in a place called ?Qalaali?, which is about 25 minutes driving distance from Manama, the capital. Qalaali is literally ?around the corner? from the country?s airport, so it?s not really far to travel.

As for obtaining entry to the country, on arrival British passport holders will get a 3 month visa, for a fee of 5 dinars (equivalent of £10 each). They will also ask for the name and address of the person you are staying with for their records.

As for the duroos, then mashaAllaah the duroos of Umm Abdur-Rahmaan (Shaykh Fawzee's wife) are very beneficial for the sister wanting to learn her deen. She teaches those who attend to be patient and also how to be with the people. Along with this Shaykh Fawzee?s sister (a herbalist) owns a little room within the markaz and treats the sisters there suffering from all sorts of problems, including depression, and medicine for women who have recently had children.

As for the types of duroos (for the sisters), then they are as follows, and are spread during the day:

Monday:
*Tarbiyyah: Talks about how to bring up children, and how to live with the spouse.
*General Duroos: On the names and attributes of Allaah

Tuesday:
*Qur?aan (The lesson consists of tafseer, reading then hifdh)
*?Buloogh-ul-Maraam? (This is done after Asr on Tuesdays)

Wednesday:
*Qur?aan
*After maghrib, a lesson at a place called ?Rufaa?, which is about a 45 minute drive from Qalaali ? The topic is Aqeedah ahlus-sunnah wal jamaah

Thursday:
*Aqeedah & Tawheed, aswell teaching from a book about sins and bid?ah

Friday:
*Tele-link with sisters in France (after Asr) ?Usool-uth-Thalaatha?

Saturday:
*Qur?aan memorisation
*?Siffah Salaah? Of Shaykh Naasir (Rahimullah)
*Kitaab-ut-Tawheed (Of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahaab <Rahimullah>)

Sunday:
* Tajweed: The sisters are taught tajweed to the level of ?riwaayah?. This is done on Sundays.

The shaykh?s lessons start after isha (around 9 pm) and last for upto 2 or so hours. There are more lessons for the sisters than the brothers, as during the day many of them are away at work.

There are no Salafi schools or masaajids in Bahrain, although the shaykh and his wife are
trying their best to establish one, as well as a masjid behind Markaz Imaam Bukharee.

The rent in Bahrain is cheap, the cheapest being around 60 dinars (around £110 a month). The houses that are available for rent will usually need for you to by the appliances (gas cooker, fridge, etc).

As for what lessons the shaykh does, then this will be posted in the near future insha?Allaah!

Assalaamu Alaykum,

As for the visa regulations for the people going from the U.S., then its better off asking someone who has been to Bahrain from the states, e.g. Abu Muhammad al-Jamaiky, or some of the other brothers.

and Allaah knows best!

Assalaamu Alaykum

In addition to my post above, I can add that the duroos of Shaykh Fawzee are the following :

*'Buloogh al-Maraam' (which he is trying to complete)
*'Saheeh Muslim'

- Both duroos are done 2/3 times a week @ the markaz (Imaam Bukhaari) AFTER salaathul Isha' (around 9pm Bahraini time).

BaarakAllaahu feekum
