As-Salaamu'Alaikum,

I was emailed a quote below attributed to Al-'Alaama Ash-Shaikh Saalih Fawzaan Al-Fawzaan. My question is can one of the du'aat please verify if the below statement is from the shaikh's kalaam? If you would like the link to the website that was emailed to me, please PM me and I will respond back with it. It is not a known salafi website this statement was found on, that is why I'm posting this question in this manner.

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question: He (the questioner) says ? esteemed Shaikh, may Allah grant you success ? some of the people end their name with ?as-Salafee? or ?al-Atharee?, so is this from self praise or is it in agreement with the legislation?

The reply: What is desired is that the person follows the truth, what is desired is that the person seeks the truth, follows the truth and acts by it. As for whoever names himself Salafee or Atharee or whatever resembles that, then there is no need for this. Allah knows, subhaanahu wa ta?aalaa, ?Say: Do you teach Allah about your religion and Allah knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth? Allah is Knowing of all things.? (49:16). So the naming of Salafee, or Atharee, or whatever resembles that, there is no basis for it. We look to the reality, and we do not look to the statement, the naming and the propaganda. He might say that he is salafee and he is not salafee, atharee and he is not atharee, and he might be salafee and atharee and he does not say, ?I am salafee or atharee.? So the consideration is for the realities, not for the names, nor for the propaganda. And upon the Muslim is that he sticks to the good manners with Allah, subhaanahu wa ta?aalaa. When the Arabs said, ?We believe,? Allah rebuked them, ?The Arabs said, ?We believe.? Say: You did not believe, but you say: we submit.? (49:14)... But you say, ?We submit.? Allah rebuked that they name... they describe themselves with faith (eemaan) (???). They believed they entered Islam, Arabs, some Bedouins, they assumed that they became believers right away. No. They submitted, they entered into Islam and if they persisted and they learned, faith would enter their hearts bit by bit, ?And when faith enters in your heart.? The word ?when? is for something expected, meaning faith will enter, but that you assume it from the first time, it is praise for the self. So there is no need that you say, ?I am salafee, I am atharee, I am such, I am such.? Upon you is that you seek the truth, you act by it and you put your intention in order. And Allah is the One who knows, subhaanahu, the realities.
