All praise is for Allaah, Lord of the worlds. May Allaah send the praises and blessings of peace upon our prophet Mohammad,upon his family,companions and true followers.
The following is what took place today (Dec 27th 2003)in Madinah, at the house of Shaykh Muhammad bin Hadee may Allaah preseve him, during an open sitting between salaatul-maghrib and salaatul-isha(Saudi time).
Where in which the shaykh was explaining the difference between refutation of a mistake and what is known as Ta'n(to discredit and disparage). The shaykh was saying this, with regards to his refutation and rejection of Shaykh Faaleh making a specific group of people in Madinah Mubtadi'ah, and that refutation of an error of a particular individual is not considered to be Ta'n. This is built upon as the shaykh mentioned, having Wala wal Bara(Alliance and Enmity) for the sake of Allaah the Most High and not for the sake of individuals. The Shaykh then went on to say a few words, in praise of shaykh Faaleh:
And shaykh Faaleh may Allaah preseve him, is known to us just like Mount Uhad is known in Madinah and I first heard of Shaykh Faaleh in Riyadh and we recognise his virtue and that he is known from time(min zaman) for his defence of the sunnah, refutation of the innovators and criticism(naqd) of them.
The above has been narrated in meaning based upon the witness of myself, Suhail Ahmad(England, Bham) and Adam Lazarus(America)along with Approx 25 other students from Madinah University.
So let this be a reminder for those who wish to cause fitnah between the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah, due to, as Shaykh Ubaid mentioned; Ignorance of the principles of Jarh Wa Ta'deel and having Ta'assub(partisanship)to particular individuals.
