As-Salaamu'Alaikum As-Salafiyoon. Mu'adh ibn Jabal Radi Allaahu Ta'ala 'anhu who stated that the Messenger of Allaah Salla Allaahu 'alahi wa Sallam said in a Khutbah: "Learn Al-Ilm (knowledge), for learning it is a type of khashyah (Fear) of Allaah, seeking it is an act of worship, studying it is a type of Tasbih, searching for it is a Jihaad, teaching it to those who do not know is a charity and delivering it to those worthy of it is an act of drawing closer to Allaah.... it is a weapon to use against the enemies.... Allaah elevates some people by knowledge to the rank of leaders in righteousness who are followed, their actions imitated and their opinions referred to.... with knowledge the slave reaches the ranks of the righteous and the elevated grades in this dunya and the Hereafter. Thinking about knowledge is equivalent to Siyam (fasting), and studying it is equivalent to Qiyam (praying at night voluntarily).... Only the happy ones are endowed with knowledge while the miserable ones are deprived of it." For complete Khutbah read Jami'u Bayani Al-'Ilm vol.1 p. 66 Ibraaheem al-Harbee said, ?I heard Ahmad (Ahmad Ibn Hanbal) say, ?If you love that Allaah should keep you upon that which you love, then remain upon that which He loves, and the good one is in the one who sees no good in himself.? Refer to al-Aadaabush-Sharee?ah (2/31) by Ibn Muflih.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله والصلاة السلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وصحبه ومن اتبع هداه أما بعد: the hadeeth of muadh needs to be checked as ibn abdul-barr's chain contains a liar according to the editor/checker [abu al-ashbaal az-zuhayree] who says 'isnaadahu mawdou marfoan' [1/238-239] also al-baghdaadee brings it in his book 'al-faqeeh' [1/100] from abu hurairah. the checker says the isnaad is da'eef. there is more detail in the footnotes to both these books, but if anyone has anything pointing to it being authentic please advise us, otherwise we should withhold from acting upon it until that is established.

May Allaah reward you Amr, for I have used this narration before as well and I was not aware of it's isnaad being da'eef. May Allaah bring us closer to the authentic sunnah of Rasulullaah (sallallhu alayhi wa salam) and may he correct our affairs. was salaamu alaykum Aboo Khalil

As-Salaamu'Alaikum akhi Amr. Any finalization on the authenticity of this hadith as of yet?
