As-Salaamu'Alaikum wa'Rahma tu'Llahi wa'berta'khatu salafiyoon,

I've been unable to find information concerning the relationship of divorced people, specifically those who are divorced and have children together. Should there be an intermediary between the father and the mother, like for example the wife of the father in speaking to the mother of the children, or the husband of the mother in speaking to the father of the children? I'm in need of a hukkum (ruling) to bring the light of the sunnah to this issue for myself and others who I know that are acting without evidence.

Are there any ayaat, ahaadith, or aqwaal of the salaf pertaining to my above question available insha-Allahu'ta'Ala?
