TotalRecorder does what you want. You can get it from sahab if you search for it.

I have total recorder and it works well, but I had to pay 11.95 for it. I found another that is free, called soundcapture. It can be found at download.com. Just search for soundcapture.

It is best to avoid Real Player and its native file type, as they are inferior technologies and dying in terms of support and compatibility. By using MP3, you can take advantage of MP3 CD players, portable hard-drive players, etc.
