Assalaam alaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatuhu.
As far as I have read and heard is that shaving ones moustache is haram. Recently though I heard from a salafi brother that Imam Ahmed RaheemuAllaah shaved his moustache. The brother also said that shaving the moustache is preferred according to the hanbalis and the hanafis and that Imam Malik raheemuAllaah said to punish the one that shaved his moustache. This is the first time I have ever heard of Imam Ahmed shaving his moustache if it is true. I have had a hard time finding anything about Imam Ahmed doing such a thing.
So what is the truth about these statements and if Imam Ahmed did do such a thing than why has every salafi I have meet say that shaving the moustache is haram?
