In the name of Allah the Most Beneficent Most Merciful,

How to gain Protection from Envy by the Sheikh Saalih al-Fouzaan -may Allah protect him- [Reference below]

Question: What is the cure for envy and how does one gain protection from it legislatively?

Answer: Envy is a deadly disease and a major deficiency (in ones deen) and it is to wish for the ceasing of the blessing upon the person who Allah has favored from His Creation. It is discontentment with Allah and it is from the (evil) mannerisms of the Jews and the Disbelievers.

The Most High says: (Neither those who disbelieve from the people of the Book nor the Mushrikeen like that there should be sent down to you any good from your Lord).2:105 And the Most High says: (Many of the people of the Book wish that they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of envy from their ownselves even after the truth has become manifest to them).2:109 And the Most High says regarding the Jews who envied Prophet Muhammad -sallahu 'alayhi wasallam-: (Or do they envy men for what Allah has given them from His Bounty?)4:54

The cure for envy so that it will leave the person (who has it) is that he seeks refuge with Allah from it, asks Him to cure him of it and to remember and mention Allah much whenever he sees something that amazes him.

As for it's cure in relation to the Mahsood (one who is envied) then it is that he seeks refuge with Allah from the evil of the Haasid (Envier), recites the Mu'awwadhatayn (Surah al-Falaq and an-Naas), supplicates to Allah Glorified be He and Most High (for protection) and places his trust in Him.
