As salaamu alaykum.

Has anyone read or heard from the Ulemaa regarding the matter of the bride and the groom wearing the garland of flowers for the Marriage or waleemah? It is a custom in my community that the bride and groom wear garlands. I'm not sure if these customs have any hindu religious significance or not.

I know that customs and traditions in Islaam are permissible as long as they don't explicitly oppose the Shariah. Any proofs from the Qur'aan or Ahadeeth on this custom opposing the Shariah in any way?

JazakAllaah khayr
wa salaamu alaykum,
Sajid
