As-Salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah wa baraktuh.

I have a query regarding hijama (cupping) whilst fasting as I am little confused on this subject.

There is a fatwa on fatwaislam.com regarding cupping during Ramadhaan where there is a narration from Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal advising that his father advised him that a person should not get cupped whilst fasting. I am not sure if this is based on a hadeeth from the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa-salaam) though as there are no further details on the website.

On the other hand, I have come across a narration in Sahih Al-Bukhari in the Book of Sawm that the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa-sallam) practiced cupping whilst fasting.

Have any of the scholars discussed this issue and advised? Please advise.
