What advice can you give us for this month of Ramadan?
Sheikh Ubayd ibn Abdillah al Jaabiree replies: Let it be clear to every male and female Muslim that fasting is not prescribed to just keep away from food and drink but it also includes keeping away from evil actions. The Messenger sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said that whoever does not leave evil talk while fasting then Allaah has no need that he leaves his food and drink. Ones should strive to benefit much in this month and strive to do good deeds. One should fulfill the obligations and is encouraged to perform the extra duties. This month the good deeds are magnified and the sins are forgiven. So I advise you to guard the obligations of Allaah, those obligotary duties such as the Prayer and the Zakah (Charity). I advise you to be righteous to your parents and to keep the ties with your family. You must fulfill your trusts and be truthful in speech. You must fulfill your promises and oaths and other than that from the good deeds.
قال تعالى:{إنا نحن نزلنا الذكر وإنا له لحافظون} قال الشيخ السعدي - رحمه الله - في تفسيره (3/31): " فلا يحرف محرف معنى من معانيه( القرآن ) إلا وقيض الله له من يبين الحق المبين وهذا من أعظم آيات الله ونعمه على عباده المؤمنين".
