As salaamu alaikum

Can someone from the people of knowledge get some advice for those Muslims afflicted with AIDS/HIV who wish to fast. The particular concern is for those sufferers who say that they feel well while fasting and that they can take their medication before dawn and after sunset. I have asked about the lack of food and water intake during the day on a usual basis and whether this has or will have an effect on their condition.
My concern is that the wrong decision in this matter can be fatal if the disease becomes full blown (especially if it is due to a lack of necessary nutrition). Can someone get some advice QUICKLY.

assalam alaykoum

your answer is in the words of chaikh al 'outheymin rahimahou Llah if i understood well your case;
you explained that there were sick person who: "feel well while fasting and that they can take their medication before dawn and after sunset"
and an other category who, if " if the disease becomes full blown", the sawm " can be fatal "and the sabab is: " lack of necessary nutrition".

so i see this simple answer from ash shaykh:

"As for those whose sickness does not allow them to fast, they fall into three categories:

1/If it is neither hard nor harmful for them, they must observe fasting.

2/If it is hard, but not harmful for them, they are permitted to break their fast.
3/If it is harmful for them, then they must abstain from fasting. It is stated in the Qur?aan:

)íóÇ ÃóíøõåóÇ ÇáøóÐöíäó ÂãóäõæÇ áÇ ÊóÃúßõáõæÇ ÃóãúæóÇáóßõãú Èóíúäóßõãú ÈöÇáúÈóÇØöáö ÅöáøóÇ Ãóäú Êóßõæäó ÊöÌóÇÑóÉð Úóäú ÊóÑóÇÖò ãöäúßõãú æóáÇ ÊóÞúÊõáõæÇ ÃóäúÝõÓóßõãú Åöäøó Çááøóåó ßóÇäó Èößõãú ÑóÍöíãÇð) (ÇáäÓÇÁ:29)

Do not kill yourselves. [An-Nisaa? (4) : 29] ? Baqarah (2) : 195]

The prophet Õáí Çááå Úáíå æÓáã was reported to have said, ? There is (to be) no harm or reciprocating harm.?(13)

The days that are missed in Ramadhaan must be made up once Ramadhaan is over."

wa Allahou a'lam.

i quoted that from the kitaab: "fasting, the great act of worship", which can be downloaded on this link:

wa alaikum as salaam
jazakallahu khairan for you quick and detailed response. May Allah reward you. If this person falls into the category of potential harm from fasting, does he/she feed the poor as the condition is chronic and there is no known cure? Barakallahu fiqum
