I remember sitting in front of him in the masjid in 'Ayn Shams, Egypt hearing him say this!

Dawud Adib

وقال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية :" الراد على أهل البدع مجاهد"

Shaykh Muhammad al-Bannaa said (when asked for some advice for the Salafee youth of Algeria, and when informed of the advice already given to them by Shaykh Rabee`):

What can  I say after the naseehah of Shaykh ... what can I say after the naseehah of the Imaam of al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel in the fourteenth century, and he is Rabee` Haadee, he is the most knowledgeable...[questioner interjects]...

[and then brief advice of Shaykh Rabee` is played to Shaykh Muhammad al-Bannaa over the line, then the Shaykh gives some brief advice of keeping away from Ahl ul-Bid`ah and sticking to the `Ulamaa and their fataawaa which are based upon the Book and the Sunnah and the way of the Salaf...]

Audio: Usaamah al-Qoosee himself described Shaykh Rabee` as "Imaam of al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel

Al-Qoosee says (in 1999), in the talk "A reminder about the removal of sins (Q&A) first cassette, end of second side: "...Shaykh Rabee` bin Haadee al-Madkhalee, the Imaam of this knowledge, the knowledge of al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel and the carrier of its flag"

However, if you listen to this:

Audio: Usaamah al-Qoosee Says that the Ignorant Foreigners who do not know arabic wrongly understood from Shaykh al-Albaanee's saying "the carrier of the flag", the word "Imaam"

From what he said is:
 • "...because who is the one who said about Shaykh Rabee` that he is the carrier of the flag of al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel?...Shaykh al-Albaanee, therefore who is the Imaam of al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel then? It is Shaykh al-Albaanee, it is not Shaykh Rabee`. Shaykh Rabee` is from the students of Shaykh al-Albaanee. Shaykh al-Albaanee did not make Shaykh Rabee` an Imaam of himself..." (7 mins 45 seconds) and
 • "...hence, describing a person that he is a carrier of the flag does not mean that he is the highset, and that he is the Imaam of al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel..." (10 mins 35 seconds), and
 • "...Does Shaykh al-Albaanee intend, when Shaykh al-Albaanee, Shaykh Ibn Baaz and Shaykh Ibn `Uthaymeen were present in that time, and they are the Imaams of this da`wah and Shaykh Rabee` is one of the scholars of this da`wah, can it be comprehended that Shaykh al-Albaanee intends that Shaykh Rabee` is superior to those three? What is the answer, the answer is no..." (10 mins 50 seconds), and
 • "...Does he intend that Shaykh Rabee` is more knowledgeable of those three? The answer is also no..." and
 • "...and it is not a description that Shaykh Rabee` is an Imaam to Shaykh Ibn Baaz in al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel, and he is not an Imaam to Shaykh Ibn `Uthaymeen in al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel, and he is not an Imaam to Shaykh al-Albaanee in al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel in any situation. Rather, those three Imaams, with the acknowledge of all of us together, including Shaykh Rabee` (hafidhahullaah) they are the Imaams of this da`wah in our times..." (17mins 10 seconds) and
 • "... and we say that in our time, the Shaykh `Abul-Muhsin ibn Hamad al-`Abbaad al-Badr (hafidhahullaahu ta`aalaa), who lives in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, he is an Imaam of the Imaams of the Da`wah Salafiyyah in this time, rather, perhaps he is the Imaam of the `Ulamaa in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia currently, the Salafee `Ulamaa, the Ahl ul-Hadeeth... and he is the greatest of them, in rank and in knowledge, and he is without doubt he is more knowledgeable than Shaykh Rabee (hafidhahullaah). Shaykh Rabee` is not to be compared with Shaykh `Abdul-Muhsin, ever. `Abdul-Muhsin is the teacher of Shaykh Rabee`, he taught and educated him. Shaykh Rabee` was a student and Shaykh `Abdul-Muhsin was a teacher, instructor, educator to him. Therefore, we have to put every Shaykh in his place..." and
 • "...It is from justice that we say that Shaykh `Abdul-Muhsin is an Imaam from the Imaams...and he is the most knowledgeable of the people of his time of al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel... and he is more knowledgeable on this subject and others, than Shaykh Rabee` al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaahu ta`aalaa), even if Shaykh Rabee` has dedicated his time to refuting the Qutbiyyeen and the Hizbiyeen, so he was the carrier of the flag of al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel, as said by Shaykh al-Albaanee..." (19 mins 15 seconds)
Listen to the above audio from about 6 minutes onwards, there is actually more than what has been translated above, when he gives the example of `Alee being the flag-bearer in the battle, but that does not mean that he is the Imaam, and superior to Abu Bakr (radiyAllaahu anhu) - so gives the likes of these examples to try to explain away this mighty tazkiyah of Shaykh al-Albaanee for Shaykh Rabee` and to reduce the status of Shaykh Rabee` bin Haadee.

So this shows the makr (plot) of this man, because he used to say Imaam himself and that is what he understood, and spoke of, probably in many of his lectures and cassettes. Thus, for him to come out and attack the "ignorant a`aajim" for misinterpreting Shaykh al-Albaanee's speech into meaning "an Imaam..." whereas he himself affirmed it, shows that he is not being straight up...

We seek refuge in Allaah from misguidance after guidance...

Coming soon... the audio... 1999 al-Qoosee says in the US ..."Shaykh Rabee` bin Haadee al-Madkhalee, the Imaam of this knowledge, the knowledge of al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel and the carrier of its flag..."

And in Masjid Ibn Taymiyyah in August 2003, he mocks the Salafees says that they are a`aajim (foreigners who do not know Arabic), who don't understand the speech of Shaykh al-Albaanee, and he denies that Shaykh al-Albaane said "Imaam" (which is true), but he attacks and mocks the Salafees, saying that because they don't know Arabic, they took the Shayk's speech, "the carrier of the flag of al-jarh wat-ta`deel", and interpreted it to mean "Imaam..." - then he spends a good amount of time trying to explain the speech of Shaykh al-Albaanee, attempting by this to belittle Shaykh Rabee`s status, and negate that he is an Imaam in al-Jarh wat-Ta`deel

And there in 1999 al-Qoosee says about Shaykh Rabee` "Imaam of this knowledge..."

Inshaa'Allaah, you will hear the audio soon. Qoosee has fallen...and he was not wronged in the least... he was honoured when he honoured the truth, and then he met the party of tamyee`, qadarAllaahu wa maa shaa'a fa`al, and thus eventually he fell, what a waste, indeed it grieves us and does not please us one bit that this should be the pitiful end of one who could have aided the Sunnah and the Salafee manhaj...but he inclined and lowered... so it (the downfall) was inclined and lowered upon him... justice and wisdom in the decree of Allaah...

The lesson... look to your companionship, and do not take this matter lightly, as the Salaf said, it is from the fiqh (understanding) of a man...for the example of al-Qoosee is one to take heed of...

Abu ad-Dardaa - radiyAllaahu anhu - said, "It is from the fiqh (understanding of a person) that he [chooses] those whom he walks with, whom he enters upon (visits) and whom he sits with." Al-Ibaanah (2/477)

So do not remain an ahmaq, jaahil, walking and befriending every so and so...without any fiqh or baseerah...
