May Allaah reward the Noble Shaikh. In his words above is a clear balance between

a) avoiding hastiness and harshness that is out of its place, that we advise and correct people and have patience with them and bear with them if they genuinely err or slip on the path and not to make a general boycott from everyone but to guide them if we can, and

b) avoiding tamyee (i.e. destroying or melting the principles of the manhaj) in that when it becomes clear that people persist upon falsehood and do not adopt the rulings of the scholars on those who have deviated (such as Aroor and Maghrawee and Mar'ibee) that we treat them as people of desires and boycott them and warn from them.

Unfortunately, the people of tamyee only take from the Shaikh's words what supports their desires and throw everything else away. They accuse those who remained with the scholars on the issue of Mar'ibee to be Ghulaat and Muqallidah and other evil titles just because they adhered to the proof that these scholars brought. The truth is so clear concerning this Innovator but they still hide in this issue and do not say a truthful word about it, or take a truthful position in it.

Shaikh Rabee on Followers of Abul-Hasan (reposted, taken from a previous post by spubs.com) phone link up from UK

QUESTIONER: Is the difference between individuals one that is 'aqadee, usoolee (i.e. in belief, fundamental) or is it ijtihaadee, far'ee (one of personal judgement, and only a subsidiary matter?

SHAYKH RABEE?: There is no personal differences involved in this, the differences in aqeedah and manhaj there are no personal affairs that enter into this.

QUESTIONER: Yes, O Shaykh, the second is "A man does not enter into the Salafiyyeen except with certainty and nor does he leave (Salafiyyah) except with certainty". Is this speech correct O Shaykh.

SHAYKH RABEE?: By Allaah, it is true speech by which falsehood is intended. It is true speech by which falsehood is intended...

QUESTIONER: And this person himself speaks with (the principle of) "al-mujmal wal-mufassal", and he commends al-Maghraawi, and Abul-Hasan, and he reviles Sahab, and he says, "Haddaadiyyah", and likewise he says the same upon the Salafees.

SHAYKH RABEE?: This is the manhaj of desires and tribulations... by way of these actions

QUESTIONER: Likewise O Shaykh, the same man who says, "The man who expels another man (from Salafiyyah) without consideration of his usool (i.e. the fact that he agrees with the usool of the Sunnah in general), then he has Haddaadiyyah". Is the speech to be taken unrestrictedly, O Shaykh?

SHAYKH RABEE?: How do you mean, without consideration of his usool?

QUESTIONER: Meaning Abul-Hasan (al-Ma`ribee)

SHAYKH RABEE?: Those whom Imaam Ahmad expelled, then does he become a Haddaadee by expelling them, and they are from Ahl ul-Hadeeth and from amongst the Scholars and their usool are usool of Salafiyyah, and he expelled them on account of (the saying) of the creation of the Qur'aan. Is he a Haddaadee??

QUESTIONER: O Shaykh, this man has been advised in numerous small sittings, and he has been advised however he does not cease to speak with these sayings, and also some of the doubts which he puts over the youth, however I desired to ask you until you explain to us, and you reply to these doubts. So O Shaykh, what is the ruling with sitting with those??

SHAYKH RABEE?: By Allaah, they are to be warned against, they are to be advised, and the truth explained to them, and they are advised to abandon these methods of tamyee' (i.e. wasting, softening), and if they persist then they are to be warned against, and they are to be included amongst the Ahl ul-Fitan (the people of tribulations).

QUESTIONER: Fine O Shaykh, some of them say that the issue of Abul-Hasan is a matter of Ijtihaad, and that the people of knowledge and the mashaayikh disagree concerning it.

SHAYKH RABEE?: A lie, a lie, this is a lie. The revilement of the Sahaabah is an ijtihaad in falsehood, it opposes the usool of the Salaf in ijtihaad. This is the manhaj of al-Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen completely. Now, they, the followers of Abul-Hasan are traversing upon the way and methods of al-Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen, and their manhaj is the exact same ta'weelaat (i.e. interpretations, interpolations) that al-Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen speak with, and these people actually added further corrupt foundations to it.

[NOTE: These questions were asked BEFORE the cassette of Abul-Hasan al-Ma'ribee emerged, the one called "Jalasah Adan" and in which al-Ma'ribee states that Ikhwaan, Tabligh and Jihaad are from the Firqat un-Naajiyah!!]

QUESTIONER: O Shaykh, I have a close relative he sits with this man and I have advised concerning this man, and advised him on more than one occasion, however he says that the issue is one of Ijtihaad, and that the Mashaayikh of Jordan and Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin al-Abbaad have spoken concerning it.

SHAYKH RABEE?: Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin al-Abbaad does not enter into them (i.e. he is not to be put alongside those of Jordan). It is obligatory upon the Masaayikh of Jordan to speak the truth, may Allaah bless you.

QUESTIONER: Fine O Shaykh, meaning that our obligation is that we advise this man, and that we advise whoever sits with him and follows him after that.

SHAYKH RABEE?: Now the followers of Abul-Hasan say that they do not blindly follow, so why do they blindly follow Ahl us-Shaam (i.e. the Jordanians). How can they leave the evidences, and the leave the clear proofs and the clear explanations, they leave the other scholars and amongst them are those who are greater in age that al-`Abbaad and those of Shaam, and they all convicted Abul-Hasan (i.e. of his errors and innovations). So why do they not take to their speech and the truth is with them. They are people of desires. They have taken the same ways as al-Ikhwaan al-Muslimoon, they used to say, "Al-Albaanee", they said, "Al-Albaanee", these are deceptions, they are clear Ikhwaan Muslimeen, but they attach themselves to Ibn Baaz, and they attach themselves to al-Albaanee and Ibn Uthaymeen falsely and spuriously. And this is just like these people (i.e. the followers of Abul-Hasan) and what it is that they have presented in refutation of our writings...

...and if they presented to them evidences and clear proofs that they hold onto which falsify what the scholars say, the scholars of Yemen, and Shaykh al-Bannaa, and Shaykh al-Wasabee and others, those who found Abul-Hasan guilty with that which made him fall, and what renders him disparaged. And then [they use] what a-Abbaad replied to them with, then what are their proofs, and they say that we are people of evidences, and we do not blindly follow, so how can they hide now behind al-Abbaad, al-Abbaad spoke with what is apparent to him and those other than him from the scholars, sometimes they commend a person without knowing his reality, however the truth and proof is with the one knows, who knows the reality of those who are disparaged.?

Relevant Issues

1. The general, common-folk are not to be boycotted in totality, but they are to be mixed with and advised and taught (for those who are capable, since amongst the conditions of da'wah is knowledge and understanding), using hikmah and ilm, for if it were not for this Salafiyyah would not spread. The general, common folk who are upon some of the innovations and who are the followers of an Innovator, like some of the Soofees, or the ignorant Raafidah, or some of those who might be affiliated with the Jamaa'aat upon ignorance, then many of them desire nothing but goodness and they seek Paradise, so they should not be boycotted and left completely, they have been deceived by those whom they follow, but they themselves do not know any better. So boycotting should not be made general and absolute in this way amongst all the people in general, a form of cutting onseself off completely, this is a mistake, otherwise many people will miss out in arriving at the truth and entering into Salafiyyah. Thus da'wah efforts should be made and increased to invite and call these people with knowledge and wisdom and patience.

2. We do not expel people from within Salafiyyah or boycott them except when they oppose one of the usool of the religion, and ally with the Innovators, and then persist upon that after receiving advice and correction and then they build walaa and baraa around it. This is after we have given advice and correction and had patience with them and tried with them to correct them with knowledge and wisdom and with the speech of the Scholars, in gatherings and sittings and private advice. Such include those whom the Scholars have amply and sufficiently refuted and spoken about, both the Innovator and his followers, and which is common knowledge to every Salafee, such as Bannaa and his followers, Suroor and his followers, Abdur-Rahman Abdul-Khaliq and his followers and Qutb and his followers and Ar'oor and his followers, al-Maghrawee and his followers and al-Ma'ribee and his followers. For their persistence upon that is not due to being deceived but due to desire, and they are not common people who do not know any better and are ignorant, and who if taught will accept the truth, rather they have known Salafiyyah and thus went astray upon knowledge and due to abandoning the rulings and advice of the scholars that were obligatory for them to accept according to the rules of the Salafee manhaj.

Allah knows best.

Shaik Rabee' bin Haadee On The Followers and Defenders of Abul Hasan Advising them, Correcting them, Giving them Respite and Boycotting Them

This is a transcript of some questions posed to the Shaikh 1st December 2002 in a session that was broadcast over Paltalk at around 4.30pm

Question: O Shaikh, what is your view concerning Shaikh Ubaid al-Jaabiree, and is he not a Scholar, but just a student of knowledge?

Shaikh Rabee' bin Haadee al-Madkhalee: By Allaah, the one who reviles him and says that he is jaahil, then he follows the paths of the devils. And he follows the way of Hizbiyyah in reviling the Scholars of the Salafee manhaj. Shaikh Ubaid is from the most excellent of the Scholars of the Salafiyyeen, and he is known for wara' and zuhd (piety and abstemiousness) and for speaking the truth - may Allaah bless you - and no one who (truly) desires the face of Allaah the Blessed and the Most High would revile him.  And we have known these methods to be the ways of the Hizbiyyeen.

Question: Concerning a man who says he is withholding on the issue of Abul-Hasan al-Maribee while he has actually read the refutations of the scholars is he to be warned against and boycotted?

Shaikh Rabee' bin Haadee al-Madkhalee: Give them some respite. Give them some respite till some other days. If they stood by the truth, aided it, and [word unclear] the falsehood and belittled it, then they are your brothers. And if they continue to argue, wallow (in the falsehood), then we never doubt, or hesitate in (holding) that they are Ashaab ul-Ahwaa (people of desires). Henceforth, they are to be boycotted and there is no liberty. However, I ask Allaah that he does not prolong their affair until they show arrogance and stubbornness, and being occupied in falsehood. Returning to the truth is better than wallowing in falsehood, and a believer is one who always returns to Allaah. And a believer is one who constantly repents, and Allaah rejoices with the repentance of His servant, and Allaah loves those who constantly repent and those who purify themselves.

So if he has stood by Abul Hasan until this date, there is no doubt that he is upon falsehood, and if comes and brings these tricks and plots, then he is given respite, for a week, or two, so he either repents [...section cut]... and goes with the Scholars of the Salaf and the Scholars of the Salafee Manhaj, in the truth [that they are upon] and in aid of the truth for which they stood for, then he is from us and is our brother. And the one who refused except but to follow the devil then he is to be boycotted.

And I say to all of those who are listening, I say... let me speak..., I say to all the Salafees, let me speak yaa akhee! I say to all those who are present:

Verily, Abal-Hasan, he is the one who kindled this fitnah, he is the one who planned for this fitnah from a very long time ago, and Allaah made him to speak that he had explained the usool and the afkaar of Shaikh Rabee'... that he explained them in his book "as-Siraaj". But in reality he waged a war against the Salafee Manhaj in [this book] "as-Siraaj", he waged a war against the Salafee manhaj, and at that time, I knew of his plots, but at that time I was gentle with him, and I explained his deviations with good manners and justice, and I sent them to him from myself in secret, based upon the hope that he will return to Allaah, Subhaanahu wa Ta'aalaa,  and that he takes the correct path, and I was like this for years, I did not inform anyone of these deviations which I came across and which I had explained to him. This was all between me and him and I did not inform anyone about it. And I did not show anything to him except the good, and I did not deal with him except with manhood.

However, this man does not thank Allaah, and nor does he express thanks for the good, and he has no rujoolah (manhood) at all. Rather is a lowly worthless man, a man who is armed by the Ahl ul-Ahwaa, and armed by the hizbiyyah organisations, those organisations that have armed him and his likes for the purpose of waging a war against the Salafee Manhaj.

Now, he is the leader, director, of these tribulations, he is the carrier of the flag (of these tribulations) against the Salafee manhaj and its adherents.  And there is nothing more clear than his corrupt laying down of principles, which he began to propound and which no one from the groups of misguidance, and nor any head from the heads of misguidance brought before him. And all of these usool are for the purpose of waging a war against the Salafee manhaj.

And the Scholars have known them and they have explained what they contain of misguidance, and they convicted him and these false princples, after having a long time of patience... however after this (after he was advised), he announced openly that he desires splitting, separation (and not unity). So then he began to implement what he had planned for creating splitting (amongst the Salafees), and he began to spread his poison in the East and the West for this purpose, and in every place, so that he may prevent the Salafees and so that he can extract from them a hizb, and in Allaah is the refuge.

He excels over all the groups, with his evil and with his plots, his lies and his war against the Salafee manhaj. And now, after the scholars have written what they issued in their verdicts and after I wrote about all of these corrupt principles... so after these writings and these clarifications, there is no on left as one who hesitates and wavers (in doubt) after this, except, and refuge is in Allaah, that he has hawaa (following of desire). However, we do not close the path for him, and we say to him, the door for tawbah is open, so repent and return to Allaah Azza wa Jall. It is better for you to return to the Salafee manhaj and stand by your brothers, calling to this manhaj, and that you learn the Islamic sciences regarding it, and the usool of the Salafee manhaj, and that you be amongst the du'aat who go towards Allaah, not du'aat towards Abul Hasan (al-Maribee) or to his corrupt manhaj or to his corrupt principles.

And at this moment in time, every sane person knows of his methods, that right now he defends the Hizbiyyeen, and I say that he is not a hizbee and nor a salafee, but he is man of acquiring benefit. He changes colors for the sake of wealth. And if those people were to abandon him (i.e. those who are equipping him), he would find others who will present wealth to him, and then he would stand by their side, and then defend them.

For by Allaah, I have not seen anyone more evil than those Hizbiyyeen, in these characteristics and from these angles, in lying, in changing colours, "takfeeri", then "salafee", then "hizbee", and so on. And the names are changed in accordance to what brings the wealth. This is a matter well-known, it is known by the Lebanese, the Emiratees, it is known that he is man who gathers wealth and who perishes over it. So the likes of this man sells his deen for a paltry price....

So what exactly do those people desire with this person Abul Hasan and this is his condition?

Shaikh Rabee bin Haadee also said in this session: Abul Hasan has fallen in Yemen. He has fallen, if Allaah wills, in the Emirates... and he is finished in the Mamlakah, and all praise is due to Allaah, he is finished, completely and now he lies, he says "with us is so and so and so and so", and he is a liar. The people have abandoned him. Everyone who had intellect and religion (aql and deen) has abandoned him...

Question: When do we say that a common person is not a Salafee?

ANSWER by Shaykh Rabee' ibn Haadee Al-Madkhalee, well-known scholar and retired professor from the Islaamic University of Al-Madeenah

The common person, like the average raafidhee, or the average soofee, or their likes from the people of partisanship, if he affirms their ideas and he follows them, befriending people for their sake, and opposing the Salafees for example, then he is from them.

But if he is not active (doing the aforementioned), and he is a person who accepts the Truth, then he is to be advised and taught the Salafee manhaj. There should be no rush in judging him. But if he is active with them and accepts their ideas as I have mentioned, then he is from them.

Other than this, the ordinary person who does not understand what they are on, the one who holds no animosity or stance against the Salafee methodology, such a person should be dealt with patiently, taught, and advised. There should be no rush in judging him.

From a cassette recorded in Ramadhaan 1423H with Shaikh Rabee al-Madkhalee (posted on AnaSalafi.Net)

Question: The followers of an Innovator, are they put alongside him in (the issue of) boycotting?

So the Shaikh, may Allaah protect him and watch over him, said, "The one who is deceived amongst them is taught O brothers, do not be hasty, teach them and explain (the matter) to them, for verily many amongst them desire goodness, until even the Soofiyyah. By Allaah if their had been a [strong] Salafee effort [in da'wah] you would see them entering Salafiyyah both in groups and in singles.

Thus, do not let the principle with you be just hajr.. hajr.. hajr.. hajr.., and the foundation is just hajr! The foundation is to guide the people, to enter the people into goodness. The issue of al-hajr can sometimes be understood wrongly, when you boycott all of the people then who will enter the Sunnah?

This type of boycotting was in the days of Imaam Ahmad, the world was full of Salafiyyah, and when Imaam Ahmad would say "so and so" is an Innovator, he would drop, but as for now Salafiyyah is like a white hair in a black ox. The basic foundation with you is the guidance of the people, and saving them from falsehood, be gentle with the people and invite them, and draw them near, if Allaah wills, the gathering of the Salafees will increase, and you will win over many amongst the people.

As for when you are bloated and puffed up, like this, and all of the people are astray, and you do not advise or anything or make any clarification, this is a mistake... the meaning of this is blocking the doors of good in the face of the people. So the [situation] with you should not [just] be one of rebuke... rebuke

Boycotting, when he says, "boycott", it is possible an Innovator will return, he is compelled to return, he sees the whole world is in front of the Salafees, so he is compelled to return... as for now, he turns like that but he does not see any Salafees, so he remains with the people... so be aware of these things.

The principle that should be with you, as the foundation, should be the guidance of the people, entering them into the Sunnah and saving them from misguidance, this is the principle that you should have, have patience, bear (harms) and so on... and after all that the final thing is cauterisation. As for it (the boycotting) being at the first instance! This is a mistake may Allaah bless you.

The principle that you should have is to rescue the people, by Allaah, many people have goodness in them, they desire goodness..., if they are just left in the mosques, what will they seek? They desire Paradise O brothers,  they desire goodness, however the ways (in calling them), let your ways (asaaleeb) remain wise, by Allaah, the merciful and wise ways. The one who perceives that you are not exalting over him, when he perceives that you are exalting over him, he will not enter with you, he will not desire the truth from you, however be humble with him, will he not go alongside you, be gentle with him, call him with wisdom, and if Allaah wills, many people will enter.

All (the people) of India used to be deviant, grave-worshippers, and then Ahl ul-Hadeeth came with knowledge and wisdom, they won over millions of people with their wisdom and knowledge, (just) three or four from the senior students of the Shaikh Nadheer Hasan, they turned India upside down with their wisdom and knowledge. There was one amongst them that Allaah put to trial! An innovator came and struck him with a pick-axe, until he was finished, and died according to what he saw, then they came and took this criminal and threw him in the prison. When the man got up from his unconciousness, he said, "this is the one who struck me, so where has he gone?", they said "they have thrown him in the prison", so he said, "never, he should not be imprisoned, finish, I have pardoned him". So they said, "(No) finish it, just leave him imprisoned", so they refused to release him. So this man then used to spend upon the offspring of that criminal (looking after them). So when that man came out of the prison, he entered into Salafiyyah, and he was amongst the senior criminals.

There used to be a person whose name was Abul-Mahjoob in Sudan, he was the first one who spread Salafiyyah in Sudan, they used to strike him and used to restrain  him by (tying) his feet, and they would throw him outside the mosque. As soon as he got up he would laugh, and would not show envy to anyone, and he would not seek revenge or anything, he would just smile and laugh, and then many people from the Mashaayikh entered into the Salafee Da'wah.

The point is that I do not expect that you reach this level, however I desire that O brothers, that you have something of wisdom and knowledge, and patience and good intent with you, and that the intent is to guide the people, may Allaah bless you, by Allaah, with wise mannerisms, and with gentleness, forbearance, the people will accept your da'wah... and when you have nothing with you but harshness and severity, "And had you been severe and harshhearted, they would have broken away from about you..." (Aali Imran 3:159) this is the Messenger of Allaah (alayhis salaatu was salaam), Allaah said this to him.

My brothers, may Allaah bless you, some of our brothers have this additional severity, which only expels from Salafiyyah but which does not enter into Salafiyyah, (this severity) that expels and pushes out from Salafiyyah, but does not enter anyone into it... this is present now. So those who expel... upon them is to repent to Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, and that they improve their manners, and that they be guides unto Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, may Allaah bless you, you must adopt these ways, let not the principle according to you be just boycotting, boycotting, boycotting, and thats it, boycotting is legislateed, however, when it brings about benefit. You are in the time of Imaam Ahmad, then boycott, but in whose time are you? May Allaah bless you, so forbearance and patience is vital... may Allaah bless you, and bringing people closer to goodness and entering them into it.
