Wa 'alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

It was reported that Zayn al-'Aabideen 'Alee ibn al-Husayn, the grandson of 'Alee ibn 'Abee Taalib, used to have his young children pray thuhr and 'asr together and maghrib and 'eshaa' together.  When it was said to him, "They are not praying at the right times," he replied:

"This is better than them sleeping past (the time of) the prayer."

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

My children are school age and it is very difficult for them to stay up past 9 pm  and therefore they do not pray salaatul eeshaa which due to the summer months comes in at 10 pm.  I even have trouble staying up til this time in which case I will go to sleep then arise at 11 or 12 or 1 am to pray eesha, bi'itnillaah.  However, it is very difficult to do the same with them as they don't want to get up.

In a situation such as this would it be permissible for my children to combine salaatul maghrib and eeshaa?

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
