Bismillah Walhamdulilah:
It is reported that Sheikhul Islam Ahmed Ibn Taymiyyah was born in Haran!But I hear some people say its in Iraq while others say it near Syria and Turkey!Could someone clarify?Barakallah Feek!

Asalam Alaikum
In The Biography of Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taimiyyah ( Rahimahullah) which was written in the english translation of his book "Diseases of the heart and Their Cures" It is said like this.
"He was Born in Harran, an Old city within the Arabian Peninsula Between Syria and Iraq on 10th or 12th Rabiu'l Awwal in the year 661H"
so it seems that Harran was a city in between Syria and Iraq
