assalamu alaykum wa rahamtuAllah wa barikatu

Is it allowed for a salafi or salafiyyah to sit amongst a group of people who are ahlul-bid'ah/ahlul-hawaa to memorize the qur'an or tajweed, etc.?

Jazakum Allahu khayrun

Wa Alaikumus Salaam Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

Insha'Allaah this post will be answered (with proofs and evidences) by someone more knowledgeable than myself.

However, from personal experience I would caution against taking knowledge (especially the words of Allaah) from the people of innovations.  Some (not all) of the people of bid'ah are fond of changing the "meaning" of the verses and in some cases, even changing the verse itself.  For example, some of them change the following verse to read as if Musa spoke to Allaah only and that Allaah did not speak to Musa:

 Al-A'raf (7):143
æóáóãøóÇ ÌóÇÁ ãõæÓóì áöãöíÞóÇÊöäóÇ æóßóáøóãóåõ ÑóÈøõåõ ÞóÇáó ÑóÈøö ÃóÑöäöí ÃóäÙõÑú Åöáóíúßó ÞóÇáó áóä ÊóÑóÇäöí æóáóÜßöäö ÇäÙõÑú Åöáóì ÇáúÌóÈóáö ÝóÅöäö ÇÓúÊóÞóÑøó ãóßóÇäóåõ ÝóÓóæúÝó ÊóÑóÇäöí ÝóáóãøóÇ ÊóÌóáøóì ÑóÈøõåõ áöáúÌóÈóáö ÌóÚóáóåõ ÏóßøðÇ æóÎóÑøó ãæÓóì ÕóÚöÞðÇ ÝóáóãøóÇ ÃóÝóÇÞó ÞóÇáó ÓõÈúÍóÇäóßó ÊõÈúÊõ Åöáóíúßó æóÃóäóÇú Ãóæøóáõ ÇáúãõÄúãöäöíäó

And when Mûsa (Moses) came at the time and place appointed by Us, and his Lord spoke to him, he said: "O my Lord! Show me (Yourself), that I may look upon You." Allâh said: "You cannot see Me, but look upon the mountain if it stands still in its place then you shall see Me." So when his Lord appeared to the mountain[], He made it collapse to dust, and Mûsa (Moses) fell down unconscious. Then when he recovered his senses he said: "Glory be to You, I turn to You in repentance and I am the first of the believers."

Likewise, it is well known that the people of Jamaa'at Tableegh (and other than them) have misinterpreted the Ayah concerning "going out in the Path of Allaah".

At the very least, I would recommend using extreme caution when dealing with the various groups and individuals of innovation, especially when it comes to taking knowledge from them.

And Allaah Knows Best
