The Manners of the Knowledge Seeker:

By Shaykh  Muhammad Sa'id Raslaan. Pg 22/23

And Al Bukhari titles a chapter in the section on knowledge in his ýSahihý chapter. The Memorization of knowledge,ýand he included in it the story of Abu Hurayrah( Radhiallahu anhum):The people say that Abu Hurayrah narrates too much.were it not for two verses in the Book  of Allaah,

ýI WOULDNýT HAVE NARRATED A SINGLE HADITH:

Sura Al Al-Baqarah(Chapter 2)

159. Verily, those who conceal the clear proofs, evidences and the guidance, which We have sent down, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, they are the ones cursed by Allýh and cursed by the cursers.

160. Except those who repent and do righteous deeds, and openly declare (the truth which they concealed). These, I will accept their repentance. And I am the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.

Indeed our brothers from muhajirin were busy with the marketplace, and our brothers from Ansar were busy with their wealth, and Abu Hurayrah stuck with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alyhi wasalam) content with what was in his stomach, attending what they did not attend, and memorizing what they did not memorize.ýSahih al Bukhari(118)

Al Hafidh Ibn Hajar(RahimahulAllaah)Said:

He did not include in this chapter anything regarding anyone but Abu Hurayrah, and this is because he was Companion who memorizes the most Hadith.Ash ShafiýI said:ýAbu Hurayrah(  Radhiallahu anhum) memorized the most out of all the narrators of his time.ýAnd Ibn Umar Radhiallahu anhum )( stood at his funeral, invoking Allaahýs Rahma for him.ýHe would memorize the statement of the Prophet (sallallahu alyhi wasalam) for the muslims.Fath al Bari (1/258)

An  Nawawee RahimahulAllaah said:

ýHis SayingýýContent with what was in his stomach..ý means that he stuck with that Prophet (sallallahu alyhi wasalam),Satistied with what he needed to sustain himself, and was not concerned with gathering money to save up.ý Sharh Sahih Muslimý (6/53)

Ibn Kathir reported from Saýid bin Hind that Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallahu anhum) said that the Prophet( sallallahu alyhi wasalam) said to him:ýWill you not ask me about what booty that your companions have asked me about?ý,So Abu Hurayrah( Radhiallahu anhum) said:ýI ask you to teach me from what Allaah subhanawata3allaah has taught you.ý ýAl Bidayah Wan Nihayahý(8/111)

Abu Hurayrah(Radhiallahu anhum)memorized the most hadith of the Companions of the Prophet (sallallahu alyhi wasalam) despite the short time in which he accompanied him(sallallahu alyhi wasalam).as what is commonly accepted is that he accepted Islam in the 7th year after Hijjrah, sometime between the incident of al Hudaybiyah and Khaybar. He was around 30 years of age at that time abd he was always with the Messenger  (sallallahu alyhi wasalam) until he died. So,He memorized and narrated the most, despite the fact that he Only accompanied the Prophet (sallalahu alayhi wasalam) for not more than three years. This was all because he was sincere with his knowledge, threw off the schakels of this world and freed his hearth from all other distraction and concerns.

So The Tulab al Ilm should cut off all distraction, because if oneýs concentration is spread here and there, he will miss out on discovering many things. The salaf would put preference to knowledge over and above everything else. For example it was narrated that Al Imaam Ahmad (rahimah ullaah) did not get married until after he wsa 40!

And slave girl was given as gift toAbu Bakr al Ambari. When she entered upon him one time , he was in the middle of trying to come to conclusion on an issue, and had trouble doing so. So, he said:ýtake her back to the trader.ýShe asked:ýwhy ýwhat did I do?ýHe replied: Nothing, except that my heart was distracted by you, and you are not worth me being prevented from my knowledge.ý

As shafee(rahimahullaah) said: Nobody who seeks this knowledge while he is wealthy and high in status will succeed.Rather, those who seek it while they are humble, having a low standard of living, and are serving the scholars will succeed.ý

And Ibn Wahb narrated the Malik Ibn Anas ( rahimahullah) said:ýNobody will get what he wants from knowledge until he experiences poverty that causes him to prefer it over anything.ý
