As Salaamu Alaikum,
I've heard that you shouldnt mention the name of Allah in a restroom, well the other day a brother gave me salaam and asked how i was doing in the wudu area which also has the restrooms. I returned the salaam and without thinking i said alhamdulillah. Is there any harm in what ive done? and if so what should be done?
Also i was riding my bike home from work the other night and tore my pant leg from the ankle to the shin. I was on my way to pray isha at the masjid. Im staying with a brother and out of respect for him and his children i thought it would be best to pray at the masjid, since i didnt want to wake anyone in the small house. Was there any harm in praying with my pant leg ripped?

Thank You
Salaam

Wa 'alaykum as salaam brother,

Please click here for the search results for "toilet name" on the website alifta.com. Inshaa'Allaah, you'll get the answer to your first question by reading some of those Q&A.

Regarding your 2nd question, if you read the causes which invalidate a prayer, then the tearing of the pants from ankle to shin is not one of them for a male.

I hope one of the other brothers/sisters can correct me if I'm wrong. WAllaahu 'aalam.

Assalaamu alaikum,

This is not an answer to your question, but I noticed you're in Florida. Alhamdulillaah brothers in Florida have recently organized an email group where we can share beneficial articles about the Sunnah and also to keep in touch with each other.

Feel free to sign up at:

Assalaamu Alaikum,

JazaakAllah(spelling?) for the insight on the issuse but if anyone could provide me with proofs, or steer me in the right direction as to look these issuses up myself.
Also the internet page with as what to say and or, do when the name of Allah is mentioned in the restroom..i can only read in english at the moment. Insha'Allah if someone could provide me information on how to find the answers to the questions.

Also another question which may sound silly but i need to know. Who does "WE" pretain to when Allah ta'ala says "WE"? I've read that several times in the translation of the meaning of the Quran. I assume Allah means the angels but will someone please inform me of this.

Also when performing wudu, Ive seen some brothers when wiping the ears start at the top, to the bottom and back up again. Is this correct? I dont want to seem like im trying to correct someone but asking them this, because as i new muslim i know im missing on alot of things, but i havent read about wiping the ears back up as if you were wiping the head. If anyone can assist me in finding an answer to this i would much appreciate it.

Assalaamu Alaikum

Explanation of the meaning of when Allaah refers to Himself with "We":

taken from:
The Tafseer of Soorah an-Nabaa`(78)
http://www.troid.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=220&Itemid=383

quote:
One may notice that sometimes Allaah Who is One refers to Himself by We or Us. This is not an indication of different "personalities" or "forms" of Allaah as it is the case in the Trinity concept of the Catholic Church. Allaah is One. The use of We and Us is always associated with verses referring to Allaah's Greatness in His Lordship e.g. Creation, Power, Might, etc... This is very common in the Arabic Language. a king issues orders or statements by saying "We" or "Us". The Power and might of any king is imperfect. Allaah Glorification of Himself is Perfect because He is Perfect. In His address to mankind by calling them to direct their worship to Him, Allaah always refers to Himself by I, Me and Myself. All of this is well understood in Arabic and also in other Semetic languages. Even in English, there is the "Royal We and Us" as we hear it from statements by members of the Royal Family in England and elsewhere. To Allaah, however, belongs the Best Examples, Names, Attributes, and Actions.

wa 'alaikumussalaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh dear brother,

Firstly, welcome to Islaam - may Allah make us all steadfast upon it till we meet Him - and also welcome to the forum.

Insha'Allah the links on this page would help answer your questions: Ritual Purification. The page includes the links to two translated works about wudoo' (ablution) which are quite detailed - may Allah reward the authors and the translators with the best rewards.

You can see page point 8 on page 6 of "Al-Iqna' ..." (at the above link) for a description of wiping the ears.

Also, some other good links with good & important resources & information:
www.Spubs.com ; www.TROID.org ; www.bakkah.net ;

May Allah bless you.
