What is the Condition of Shu'ayb Al-Arna'oot?

A questioner asks: "What is the condition of Shu'ayb Al-Arna'oot? And should his ruling upon the hadeeths, regarding authenticity or weakness, be taken (i.e. accepted)?
Answer: His checkings in general are good, and the ruling he gives regarding hadeeths - both in authenticity and weakness - should be taken (i.e. accepted). That is unless you are certain that he made an error in (the ruling of) a hadeeth, then you take that which is correct. However, if you do not find anything other than his statement (regarding the grading of a hadeeth), then there is no harm in you taking it (his statement). And indeed our Shaikh, Muqbil (may Allaah have mercy upon him) was asked about him, and he gave a verdict similar to this (that I am saying). That is that his checkings are to benefitted from, and that they are in general good, except regarding what relates to the subject of Al-'Aqeedah (creed of belief). For he (Shu'ayb Al-Arna'oot) is criticized regarding Al-'Aqeedah. However, in reference to Hadeeth, investigating, checking and ruling upon the hadeeths (i.e. giving them grades of authenticity), then he is thanked for that and we ask Allaah to guide us, and him, and all of the Muslims.

سائل يقول: ما حال شعيب الأرنأووط؟ وهل يؤخذ بحكمه على الأحاديث بالصحة أو الضعف؟
الجواب: تحقيقاته في الجملة طيبة ويؤخذ بما يحكم به على الحديث صحة وضعفا ، إلا إذا تأكدت أنه في حديث أخطأ فيه فتأخذ بالصحيح لكن إذا لم تجد إلا قوله فلا بأس أن تأخذ به وقد سئل عنه شيخنا مقبل رحمة الله عليه فأفتى بمثل هذا أنه يستفاد من تحقيقاته وأنها في الجملة طيبة إلا فيما يتعلق بموضوع العقيدة فهو منتقد في العقيدة أما من حديث التحقيق والتخريج والحكم على الأحاديث فيشكر على ذلك ونسأل الله أن يهدينا وإياه وجميع المسلمين.
