AS SALAAMU 'ALAIKUM

CAN ONE OF THE STUDENTS, PLEASE, EXPLAIN THE CORRECT WAY TO MAKE SALAATUL TASBEEH OR DIRECT ME TO AN ENGLISH TRANSLATED BOOK THAT DESCRIBES IT?

BARAKALLAHU FEEKUM

The prayer is described here:

http://www.spubs.com/sps/sp.cfm?subsecID=IBD05&articleID=IBD050013&articlePages=1

The book from which it is taken is available in English from www.salafibookstore.com It is called:

Asalaamu 'alaykum

I recall hearing that al-Lajnah ad-Daa'imah gave a fatwa stating Salaatul Tasbeeh as a bid'ah, although I do not have the proof. Could someone confirm whether this is true?

If it is then how do we reconcile this with the hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbaas (radiAllaahu 'anhuma) in the above article found on spubs.com?

Could someone shed some light on this jazakumullaah khaira

Wa salaam

Subhaanakallaah humma wa bi Hamdika Ashadu allaa ilaha illa ant, astaghfiruka wa atooba ilayk

Alhamdulillah was salaatu was salaamu ala Rasululah Salla Allahu Alaihi Was Salaam wa ba'd:

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmahtullah wa barakatu

This is being posted on behalf of Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Mitron, from Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

Fatawa Arkanul Islaam ((Islaamic Verdicts on the Pillars of Islaam)) -- Fatawa Relating to Prayer, p. 523 (of English translation) by Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-'Uthaimeen (Rahimahullah):

quote:

Q. 293. What is the Tasbih prayer?

A. Tasbih prayer has not been authentically reported from the Prophet (sallAllaahu 'alayhe wa salaam); Imaam Ahmad, may Allaah have mercy on him, said: Regarding the Hadith about it, it is not authentic. Shaikhul-Islaam ibn Taimiyyah, may Allaah have mercy on him, said: It is a lie, and Ahmad and the Imams of his Mathhab have said that it is hated, and not a single Imaam said that it was recommended. As for Abu Hanifah, Malik and Ash-Shafi'i, none of them had heard of it.

These are the words of Shaikhul-Islaam ibn Taimiyyah, may Allaah have mercy on him, and they are true. If this prayer were truly from the Prophet (sallAllaahu 'alayhe wa salaam), the Imaams would have transmitted it in a manner which left no doubt about it, due to the great benefit of it, and because it is different from the rest of the types of prayers, indeed the types of worship. For we know of no act of worship in which a person is free to choose in this manner whether he does it every day or once a week or once a month or once a year or once in a lifetime. If something is unlike anything of its kind, the people would have been careful to transmit it and it would be common knowledge among them, due to its unusual nature. Since this is not the case, then it is known that this prayer is not legislated, which is why none of the Imams recommended it.

Sent to me by Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Mitron of Baltimore, Maryland, USA.  May Allah Ta'Ala Reward Him, Ameen.

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmahtullah wa barakatu
