as-Salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaah.

I was asked by one of my respected shuyookh recently about topics that should be researched and written about specifically for the benefit of new Muslims and non-Muslims, topics related directly to Hadeeth and its sciences.

So I thought of one at the time of the conversation:

The marriage between the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhe wa sallam) and 'Aa'ishah - focusing on the age difference, in light of Western criticism (after reflection this is not really that related to the request for topics revolving around the Sunnah and its sciences)

And others after the conversation (more along the lines of what is being sought):

The connectivity of the chains of source books of Hadeeth to today's time

Shuthooth (Contradictory Narrations judged to be weak): Was this term part of a tactic used to get rid of authentic hadeeth that were proven to be mistakes?

The Meaning of Weak/Unauthentic hadeeth:  How could something from Allaah's Messenger (sallallaahu alayhe wa sallam) be criticized or called weak?

And I promised to think about it more and suggest as many as I could.  So I would like to officially request your help in gathering some important topics related to the Sunnah to be used in future academic research to help others understand our Religion.  May Allaah bless you for your cooperation.

Post your ideas here, if you are able.  If not, send me an email at my yahoo account: m______r__________ (one word, 16 letters, as spelled below)

wa 'aleykum salaam wa rahmatullah

Maybe one more topic to consider:

"The status of the prophets (salla allahu 'alahi wa salam) Sunnah in explaining the Qur'an"

wa alaykumussalaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

suggestion:

- Accounts of the previous Prophets, alayhimussalaam, in hadeeth.

I donıt know how relevant, but many new Muslims & non-Muslim may be interested in:

* The legislative equality of the Sunnah with the Qurıaan.

* Any issue pertaining to Jihaad in the Prophetic Sunnah, especially where it concerns controversial narrations of the Prophet (sallaa Allaahu ıalaihi wa sallam) fighting or ordering killing, vis-ı-vis the humanistic Western concept of human rights.

* Any issue concerning the status and social role of women, hijaab, etc.

* for new Muslims in particular, any narrations that help them understand interacting with other Muslims & non-Muslims.

And Allaah knows best.

May Allaah bless you all for the input!

Here's one more:

* The simple, basic, often overlooked or undervalued fact that Islaam is a religion with a complete connected chain of narration to its Prophet and its Book.  No other major world religion has this in our era!  Emphasizing the importance of this when discussing the purity of the Creator's Legislation and its unrestricted suitability to all people in all times.

Keep them coming, may Allaah increase you in goodness.

I thought about a topic which emphasizes about sticking to the authentic sources only and the importance of  only taking from authentic books [and] scholars and not wavering, many new Muslims or non Muslims  have different views of Islaam and especially in their early years they go around several trails and calamity, and only with the Rahma of Allaah they find the Salafi manhaj...

"the importance and the unique role of the Sunnah in the everyday life of the Muslim and his affairs" emphasizing the fact that no other religion or way of life offers a comprehensive guide and reference in the everyday life of the human being. Also related to that but still something the is to be stressed is "The timelessness of the Prophetic Sunnah and its complete relevance until the Day of Judgment" as this is something that I find, from my limited experience, to be difficult to grasp for new Muslims and especially non-Muslims.

How to deal with non-muslim relatives (perhaps there are some ahadith on this topic like what the sahaba did)
.
This is an issue many are struggeling with since some non muslim relatives treat a revertee in a awful way, sometimes muslims get physically abused or get kicked out of the elderly home. For new muslims this is a big trial and perhaps if they were t read of how the muslims in the time of the Prophet dealt with this it would be a heart-warmer and give them more sabr.

And the other way around: the correct way for a muslim to treat his non-muslim family. Some muslims cut all the ties with the family or others are very harsh to the family without any hikmah.

- Another one is perhaps explaining how we refer to Quran, Sunnah and the Salaf in compared to the bible.

This really fascinated me when I was studying the different religions. The bible is a mix of Allah's word, sayings of the Prophet and sayings of companions of Prophets or others who came later. It is not clear what is authentic and what is not.

While in Islam everything is separate. We have the Quran which is purely the word of Allah, the sunnah of the messenger and then the saying of the sahaba. And we look at authenticity.

A book like this could also be interesting for the non-muslims.

As-salamu `alaykum wa rahmatullah

I suggest:

- how Islaam can be applied in each part of the society and is not something only spiritual (as non-muslims tend to consider religions),
- how were compiled the Sunnah (refuting the fact the the ahaadeeth were not compiled before Shu`bah) and the Qur'aan,
- a refutation of darwinism, oriented to the non-muslims.

Barakallahu fikum

Wa as-salamu `alaykum wa rahmatullah
