[What] Sheikh Al-Albaanee Requested From Sheikh Muqbil One Time

In the Name of Allaah Most Gracious, Most Merciful

quote:

Before I begin to mention what the Sheikh Al-Albaanee requested from Sheikh Muqbil [Rahima-humaa Allaahu Ta'Aalaa Rahmataan Waasiah] I love that I place before you these words. That the small amount of written work is not an evidence of the non-existence of knowledge of the Sheikh nor the small amount thereof. From amongst the people there are those who have an abundance of knowledge but their writing are very little.  And what is that except their busying themselves with supporting the Dawah and from another direction from what has been conveyed the lack of time to produce [these] writings. And in this time of ours we see those from amongst the Mashaa'ikh their dawah tapes in abundance for the service of Islaam and the Muslimeen and their knowledge based writing are small, and what is that except their busying themselves, either by studying or teaching or refuting the people of innovations and misguidance or or, with respect to the writings, So the Sheikh Muqbil [Rahimahullaah] not as an example specifically but by way of example is not but one of those from amongst the Ulemah.  For verily Sheikh Muqbil said to us once that Sheikh Naasir [Rahimahumaa Allaahu Ta'Alaa] requested from him in a letter sent to him that he seeks to busy himself with writing, so Sheikh Muqbil said, " I am busy with studying, then he stood up from his chair as was his habit [Rahimahullah] and he said in a raised voice, I have a question from his companion. And if he answers then he shall receive a dirham.  Yes, so this is the Sheikh Muqbil [Rahimahullah] he was from the hard-working scholars who benefitted with their knowledge many people, and their treatises can be counted on the fingers, and this did not attribute any bad to them nor decrease any of his status, ever. May Allah have mercy upon him.

Jazaakum Allaahu khayran Abaa 'Ukaashah.

Small note: "I am busy with studying..." should be: "I am busy teaching..." (tadrees)

May Allaah have Mercy on Shaykh Muqbil.

As salaamu alaikum

Just another little note.
Should be translated as "who is it's companion"

So the following was translated as...

"then he stood up from his chair as was his habit [Rahimahullah] and he said in a raised voice, I have a question from his companion. And if he answers then he shall receive a dirham."

But it should read as...

"then he stood up from his chair as was his habit [Rahimahullah] and he said in a raised voice, I have a question who is it's companion. And if he answers then he shall receive a dirham."

So the Sheik would say, who is it's companion, meaning who will answer the question.

Many times when Sheik Muqbil wanted to ask a question of his students he would ask them to stand up. Then he would ask the question. If the student answered incorrectly the Sheik would say, "You have answered! But you were incorrect! Sit down. And everyone would laugh in good fun.

Maa Shaa Allaah, it makes more sense now. Ahsanullahu Ilayka Akh Rasheed for the correction, indeed it must have been a tremendous ni3mah taking knowledge from the Sheikh in his duroos. May Allaah cause us all to benefit from what he has left behind for us from Ilmu Naafia. Allaahumma Ameen.
