As-Salaamu AlaiKum,

I had 2 main questions related to pictures\images that are buging me.
They are both (sort-of) linked. So if some student of knowledge could please answer.

Following on from the fact that images of living beings are forbidden in Islaam, I wanted to ask about some related issues that i have come accross.

quote:
On some educational material (where the images of living beings is missing), sometimes, body-parts are drawn (like a hand pointing to something or holding a pen, or a headless person performing Salah, etc).

Firstly:   A brother mentioned that there is a hadith which states that drawing body-parts of a living being (for example: a hand, or a foot, or an arm), this is similar to drawing the image of the living, and so not allowed (he mentioned [with his mouth] a hadith (i think) in Abu Dawood, but gave no reference; and i dont know if this statement is true and if there is such a hadith).

1) Does anyone know if such a hadith exist? (maybe in a different hadith book).
And 2) is it reliable?

And Secondly:   I came accross the following;
quote:
"The head is what makes something an image. So if the head is cut off, then there is no (forbidden) image."

Hadeeth Number #3864 of Saheeh al-Jaami as-Sagheer wa Ziyaadatuh'

3) Is this hadith\reference correct?
and 4) does this mean that there is nothing wrong with (for example) an image of a headless person performing salah? (which may depend on how strong\or weak my first point is).
