As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah.

I've read the Shaikh-ul Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah said that the strongest opinion is that the 'Eid prayer is obligatory upon all individuals.  My question is, what happens if one is late to the 'Eid prayer and misses the congregation.  Would that individual pray by himself to make it up? or just miss out completely?

Barak Allahu Feekum!

as-salaamu 'alaykum,

i was wondering if there is anyone who can advise me in this situation:

there are 2 separate muslim communities in this town.  one of them is following isna, so they have already decided that 'eed will be friday due to astronomical calculations.  they are having the prayer outside of the masjid.  the other group is deciding by a local sighting, but they are going to have the 'eed at the masjid.  my wife and i just had a baby, wa lillaahil-hamd, so she is on nifaas.  if the 'eed is on friday, should we go to the one outside of the masjid, or is it permissible for my wife to go to the one at the masjid, even though she is on nifaas?  in the past, some of the sisters here have gone to the 'eed at the masjid, while on their menses and nifaas.  they say that it is okay because they sit on chairs, is this true?  please help if you can, or direct me to where i can get some help with this issue.  jazakumullaahu khayran.

Usually there is a social area for the women in the building, a place that does not take the ruling of the masjid.  This would be fine without a doubt.  But sitting on chairs in the masjid???

i got this off of fatwa-online:

Question: Is the caretaker's room or the room in which the Zakaah Committee meet in the masjid acceptable as a place to do i'tikaaf, keeping in mind that the doors to these (two) rooms are within the masjid?

Response: The rooms and the doors leading to them which are within the masjid are regarded as (within) the masjid. However, if the rooms were outside the masjid despite their doors being in the masjid, then they (the rooms) are not regarded as within the masjid.

And with Allaah lies all success, and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions.

Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa.imah lil-Buhooth al-'Ilmiyyah wal-Iftaa. - Fatwa No.6718

the only thing that i can think of inside the masjid are some rooms that were used for offices and storage, the kitchen, and the wudoo area, but they are all in the masjid (i.e., under the same roof) and the kitchen and wudoo area will probably have men in them (small masjid).  i don't know what some of the rooms are being used for currently (since the tableeghi takeover).  the only social area for women that i know of is outside.  should i check with the administration to see what they consider to be outside of the masjid, and go off of that?  please note that the administration is the source for them sitting on chairs in the masjid while menstruating.

I believe the fatwaa of the kibaar is relative to their masjids here, and that the people in charge of the islaamic center define the boundaries of the masjid.  I say this because I have read other fataawaa specifically about islaamic centers that have hallways and dining areas and kitchens, and that these areas do not take the ruling of the masjid.  I can not locate them now.  Perhaps you can seek out fataawaa about "Islaamic centers" since this is what most masaajid in the West really are whether they call themselves that or not, since there is a bathroom in the "masjid"!  (It is not permissible to pray in the masjid, so then if the bathroom is in the masjid, then it would be halaal and haraam to pray in the masjid!

I mean by this that the masjids here have bathrooms outside of them, as seperate buildings usually, and no kitchen, and relatively small office space.  They intend the entire building to be the masjid, and the islaamic activities are directed from office buildings.

Here in the kingdom you do not find this - Islaamic centers with a masjid inside it, with a few exceptions.

And the room of 'Aa'ishah had a door to the masjid, so then it was connected (as is clear from the narration of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam making i'tikaaf in the masjid and having his hair done in the house of his wife while he was in the masjid), and it was not considered part of the masjid by ijmaa' since they buried the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) in her room, and Allaah knows best.

Taqabbalallaahu minnaa wa minkum

I just wanted to add that I heard Ash-Shaikh al-'Uthaymeen, rahimahullaah, on Idhaa'atul-Quraa'aan il-Kareem in the Kingdom on the radio two years ago being asked about making up the 'Eed prayer for one who missed it, and he said that there is no making up the 'Eed prayer for one who missed it, and whoever missed it, he just missed it.

Did Shaikh Uthaimeen give the daleel for this? Based on Ali Hasan Halabi's Book "Rulings Concerning the Two 'Eids" there seems to be a difference of opinion on this issue.
