DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYWHERE ONE CAN FIND STATEMENTS FROM THE ULEMA CONCERNING PERFORMING AN AQIKA FOR ONES SELF (FOR A PERSON WHO CONVERTED TO ISLAM AND WAS RAISED BY NON MUSLIMS)? IS THIS LEGISLATED?

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaah
Allaahu alem if there is any such statement from any of the Ulamaa. However if such a practice was obligated upon reverts, surely Rasoolullaah would have ordered the sahabah to do so when they became muslims and the ahadeeth would be available in Bukhari and Muslim etc.
Meanwhile, until such proof can be established, the safest bet by far would be to not perform an aqiqa for one self as all acts of worship are haraam until there is a text that allow them.
I think this question raises an interesting point though. Is the responsibility of the aqiqa specifically for the muslim parents of the child? What if the father had passed away before the birth of the child and the mother passed away during labour (or was from the ahlul kitaab)? Is the responsibility of the aqiqa then transferred over to a next of kin or anybody from the ummah in general or is it to be skipped all together?
I hope somebody from the students of knowledge can have a look at this issue for us as many people of different levels access this website and questions with no answers are not good.

There is quite a lengthy discussion on the authenticity of the hadeeth that "the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) performed an 'aqeeqah for his own self after he was made a prophet"
It was collected by al-Bazzaar, 'Abdur-Razzaaq, and others, on the authority of Anas.
Ahmad rejected the hadeeth, calling it "munkar", since it seems to have only been narrated by Abdullaah ibn al-Muharrar. al-Bayhaqee, Ibn 'Abdil-Barr, and an-Nawawee also rejected the hadeeth, an-Nawawee calling it "baatil".
'Abdur-Razzaaq said, as mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim in his conclusion to the issue, that "Ibn Muharrar was abandoned because of this hadeeth".
Refer to Tuhfatul-Mawdood of Ibn al-Qayyim (pp.143-147), as-Saheehah of al-Albaanee (2726) who considered it authentic (as Ibn Hajr seems to have done in one narration), and the English book: "Manners of Welcoming the Newborn Child".
Furthermore, the Salaf used to ask about the issue. They asked about a man performing an aqeeqah for himself after he has gotten old, and it seems that Ahmad would allow it. Again, refer to: Tuhfah al-Mawdood of Ibn al-Qayyim.
