**Correction to the title: Question about HAND position during the prayer?**

As salaamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

I was reading "Fatawa Islamiyah - Islamic Verdicts" Vol. 2 Purification and prayers... page 226 and had a question.

This is what the question was:

Q. What is the ruling on raising the hands in prayer, and when should it be done?

A. The hands should be raised at "FOUR POINTS" during the prayers:

1. When making the opening Takbir
2. When bowing
3. When straigtening up from the bowing
4. When standing up from the first Tashahud

The raising of the hands should coincide with the start of the saying "Allahu Akbar"; he may also raise them and then say "Allahu Akbar", or say "Allahu Akbar" and then raise them. As for when bowing, when he wants to go into the bowing, he should raise his hands, then bow and place his hands on his knees. When straightening up from bowing, he should lift his hands from his knees, raising them until he is standing straight, then place them on his chest. On raising from the first Tashahud, he should raise them to the level of his shoulders, once he is standing, as he did when making the opening Takbir. He should not raise his hands at any point other than these four.

As for raising the hands during the funeral prayer, it is prescribed in every Takbir.

Ibn 'Uthaimin

This is what my question is, as we stand for the 4th rakat...do we raise our hands when standing and saying Allahu Akbar? What I get from the above info is that we don't do it... please correct me if I'm wrong.
Jazaakallah!!
