Assalumualikum wa rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu, Brother, I know supplicating by raising hands after Fard prayer in Jamah is a Bid'a. Now, on this issue I have the following queries: 1. Is supplicating by raising hands after sunnah or any prayer is also bid'a? 2. How did our prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allah be upon him) make dua after prayer? Didn't he ever raise his hands after fard prayer? Is there any proof whether he raised hands after he prayed alone? 3. I came to know a hadith saying that the best time for making dua is after the obligatory prayer. Is it authentic? If authentic, how can we make dua? Is it raising hands or only supplicating?

wa 'alaikumus-salaam warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh, The following might be of benefit:

Raising the hands in supplication after the prayer Question: Raising the hands in duaa (supplication) after the 5 prayers ý is the raising of them established from the Prophet sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam or not? And if it is not established, then is it permissible to raise them after the 5 prayers or not? Answer: It is not established from the Prophet (sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam) as far as we know that he raised his hands in duaa after the salaam in the obligatory prayers ý and to raise them after the salaam in the obligatory prayer is in opposition to the Sunnah. And with Allaah is the tawfeeq. And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions. I have another related question insha Allah: 4)Would it also be wrong if one was to occasionally raise one's hands in du'aa after the salaah? Also, what if one was raise the hands in du'aa not immediately after the salaams, but after a short while - would this be OK? Or would both of these come under the ruling of bid'ah? I ask these questions because I see some brothers doing these and I do not know whether I should forbid them from their actions or not. Some assistance from the students of knowledge would be well appreciated. JazaakumAllahu khayraa.
